Am I nitpicking

Out of these #4 is the only one that makes me go "ew, that's not good." #1 is a little fucky but harmless; #2 is only obtrusive if it happens a LOT; #3 is present in basically nearly every 3D game in existence.

The graphical issues don't bother me too much. The game is a ton of fun to play so far

I lost a lot of time, like hours, just looking around the short bit between the lighthouse and the school near the start.

This is the least spoiled I've ever been with a new game and I'm loving the exploring aspect of it

Came across a couple of minor glitches - the camera went like half underground once? But just sort of ignored it and moved on.

Yeah it's not bothering me so far, but I only just made it to the first Pokemon Center. I've caught like 25 different Pokemon already. I discovered you can catch a Wattrel right away at Nemona's private beach. They seem kinda uncommon, but if you're lucky you can get one to fly close enough to target it with ZL and throw a ball to start a fight. The one I managed to catch was level 14 (and almost killed me), but levels of other Pokemon there seem to vary all the way down to level 2. Maybe Wattrel can be that low too.

So already caught that, Fidough, and Wooper for the things I plan to use long term.

I managed to backjump my way to a level fifty area...!

But... there's really not much I can do here. The only thing the town has is a gym which I'm very sure my level 30s can't handle lol

I'm going to be very sad when the game actually gives me the ability to climbs walls :x

One thing I'd wish is that 90% of the TMs you find weren't so trash lol

They give you so many customization options but you really can't change much because you are stuck in your stupid school outfit.

Old supports were literally the character in the exact same pose but 3 different facial expressions.

It's pretty funny to me that so much effort went into it, but the .5 seconds right before it actually goes for the catch it just slides in from off screen and stops in mid air like a GMOD animation.

Look I swear I don't want to complain too much. Pokemon is my favorite video game franchise and it's the only franchise in which I only play it's games on Day 1
Maybe this is why I am so not used to games with so many bugs and performance issues.
Like, I played the PC port of Arkham Knight two years after it's fiasco, I played Assassin's Creed Unity only this year...I played the PC port of Nier Automata too but never had any of the issues so sometimes it was simply luck

So yeah, I really want this game to be good. I really want to enjoy it. When I visited the library and read about Area Zero/the crater I got excited. I got some Made in Abyss vibes for it. I wanted to go out and start my open-world adventure. Going whenever I want, discovering new Pokemon...it got me excited.
But when I actually reached the overworld again and got hit with FPS drops I lost my enjoyment again.

And yes, sometimes it's those small things that make or ruin a game. It's like the satisifaction you get from..say..a critical hit in a video game. The animation. The sound. The screen shake (FE7 is a good example)

It's when you got introduced to the class and your classmates that are literally in front of you are rocking their legs and the animations looks like in 5 FPS for no reason
Now you may say "But it's just a 30 seconds cutscene and you will never see this animation again!" and you might be right
But to me it felt like a spit in the face. Like the QA tester played this and said "hey boss, don't you think it looks a bit...off?"
And the boss aid "Yes. It is. But who cares they will buy it anyway. Ship it"
And it just rubs me the wrong way and it left me with a bad taste in the mouth

There's also just a feeling of overall lack of respect for the consumer. The game is a mess and there are very, very few franchises out there people would still be coming out to bat for in this state, but Pokmon is one of them. It can get a bit annoying when people scream to the rooftops "get over it, it's not a big deal!".

why the fuck does this first town have two or three identical cafes right next to each other that sell the exact same thing
and not just once, but like every other street has this

why make this big town to "explore" if doing so is just a complete waste of time?

At least there's places to go in this game. Half the cities in SwSh were just setpieces that looked nice but were just a straight line.

One small thing from Arceus I really enjoyed and am bummed did not return for S/V, is the ability to switch your lead Pokemon without having to go into the menu.

Gym battles... kinda suck.

The music is by far my least favorite gym music and because of the mats that you fight on, your pokemon and the opponents look like they are sinking into the floor because apparently no one tested this game.

That's disappointing, especially since the spectacle of the gym battles was the only thing SwSh had going for it.

I'm mainly interested now to see if Nintendo will acknowledge any of this or just ignore it completely and tout its sales numbers

The gym battle track in SwSh is probably the best track in the series.

I got a shiny Psyduck. Was worried when I saw it had spawned in a pond, but thankfully it swam close enough for me to target it.

Yeah I liked SwSh gym battles. Every gym leader having a signature Gigantamax Pokemon was nice too. I liked the crowd cheers in the background (maybe that's unpopular opinion)
They were pretty easy though sadly

It's a real shame about the technical issues because honestly, those aside this seems like a great Pokemon game from what I've played so far.

But the technical stuff really does drag it down.

but then geez what an absolutely baffling decision about clothing, which SwSh had in absolute spades

Would you accept that it's equally annoying to essentially be told that you're lying about your enjoyment of the game, and "defending" it because of some fanboy obligation?

I didn't particularly like Sword and Shield for a hundred reasons and thought BDSP was a phoned in and unimaginative remake. But my experience of this game has been essentially glitch-free and certainly nothing obtrusive; I don't like the camera clipping underneath the ground sometimes, I find that kind of annoying. But I haven't found anything outrageous other than that. This litany of tweets aren't reflective of how I've experienced, and enjoyed, this game thus far.

I just wish you could still catch without battling like in Arceus - going back to the usual way seems obtrusive now. Maybe not all the time, but maybe in certain situations it'd be nice if that was possible.

Absolutely, and it's because there are two distinct categories of defenders here that some people can't distinguish from eachother.

A) Someone who acknowledges the issues but says it doesn't bother them.

B) Someone who says the issues don't matter and you're wrong for being upset about it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with A.

B is a shill and part of the problem.

Of course the reverse is also true, as you've noted, where some people try and say people are just pretending to enjoy themselves. These are just as stupid as the B above.

I genuinely can't think of any offhand? The thing that I guess I could do without is the bad framerate of the stuff in the distance, like with Arceus. That looks pretty amateurish, but it doesn't bother me or really alter my enjoyment of the game in really any way. If I was reviewing it, I'd need to point it out and say "yeah that's bad" but subjectively, I don't really care.

I wish the pokedex was more accurate for the locations of the poke. It just gives you a couple squares on the map and then you gotta figure it out yourself.

Doesn't help that pulling up the map takes 10 seconds and then it's always flopped around so you have no idea which way you are looking at for the first few seconds as you orientate yourself. But that's in general how everything feels. Anything that involves menus just feels a little sluggish and it's frustrating.

Yeah when looking at your Pokemon summary screen in the boxes and scrolling between them it takes too much time for the model to load
Thanksfully there is a sprite of the Pokemon on the left side that is loaded instantly, but still
