Pokemon models loading slowly in the box is probably the thing that's annoyed me the most so far.

Also using the foods to increase type encounters really work. I ate a crepe to try to find a Pachirisu, and while I did pretty quickly, I'm also swimming in Pawmi now. They're everywhere!

As they typically are, those comparisons are at least slightly disingenuous since Xenoblade also has performance problems, often falling short of 30 fps even as the resolution completely plummets.

Even still, XC3's performance is a good sight better than what we're seeing from Scarlet/Violet, while also being visually stunning and far less buggy and glitchy. XC3 by all rights should be a much heavier game than this, and the difference really comes down to that fact that MonolithSoft is a very adept developer when it comes to eking out console power while GameFreak... isn't.

Mesogaza is probably too big for what it offers. Like if you need to reuse the same stores and restaurants numerous times to fill the space, maybe just don't take up as much space. I'm trying to explore the whole thing before going to the school, and after going through the right half, the left half is mostly just more of the same and largely uninteresting. At least there's a couple bits of almost platforming to find a couple neat items.

I just started the game and I really don't get what's so bad about the intro cutscene/house graphics? They certainly aren't amazing, but they're nowhere near as bad as people on GameFAQs seem to be suggesting.

They're not N64/PS2 graphics because those couldn't quite manage this style, although PS2 can manage some stuff in cutscenes, but they run really badly and look really er, cheap. It may not help having just come off of God of War Ragnarok on PS5, but I certainly did not have that effect going back and forth between that and Bayonetta 3, also on the Switch.

See, I honestly don't even remember that happening. I couldn't tell you if it did or not to me, because to me, something like that is just... 3D gaming, so I never pay attention to it unless it's a legitimate problem.

When people go "This looks like a PS2 game," I just assume they're either already determined to hate it no matter what, or forget what PS2 games actually looked like.

Well, it happened to me after interacting with the TV in the back, and when I tried to do the same a second time, it repeated. And someone else mentioned it in this topic, I believe. Something that common probably should have been caught by the day 1 patch, given it's in the first location you ever explore in the game.

Yeah, vehemently disagree with this. FFXII was a muddy mess. It looked nice at the time, but that's because most PS2 games outside of pre-rendered cutscenes basically smeared vasoline over the screen to look nice.

Can agree that FF12 looks significantly better than what I've seen of Scarlet.

We're getting to the point where not everyone is experiencing the same inconsistent issues as everyone else, which inevitably results in a lot of "it didn't happen to me, so I don't know why people are complaining." It reminds me of when Cyberpunk released and was borderline unplayable on PS4/Xbone while being serviceable on PC.

Resolution is a seperate conversation from the actual art and asset quality. You can lower or raise the resolution of any game, just a matter of what the hardware can display.

Even if you don't consider that the case personally and think the 480p matters, it's still embarrasing that PS2 FFXII running in an emulator at higher res looks better than S/V.

Also this conversation went down with Arceus at the beginning of the year already. And I don't mean a similar conversation, I mean LITERALLY the same conversation, with the exact same examples.

Latest news I'm seeing to explain inconsistencies and help with performance is that the game has a memory leak and gets worse the longer you play it, and you need to turn your switch off an on every couple of hours.

I mean, it looks worse than a PS2 game emulated in high definition is a much different argument than it looks worse than a PS2 game. You're eliminating the hardware limitations which is the part that would be embarrassing

Like yeah Pokemon's graphic aren't very good but that argument makes no sense (also the PS2 models are worse either way)

The thing is, you are right. Because it happens so early it leaves a bad first impression. If that happened to me after 10 hours of flawless gameplay, I wouldn't mind at all.

Yeah there are no more random houses to enter into
Only Sandwich shops and hair saloons and they all look the same
At least that's what I found so far

Also looks like the memory leak thing is real
Just woke up and resumed the game on my Switch and oh my god the lag is even worse than yesterday
So I quit the game and started it again and it's fine now (for now..)
