I would explain to my employer the circumstances and take 2 weeks off. I wouldn't blow all my money but I'd spend time visiting family. I'd also probably make a quick trip to somewhere nice in Europe or the Caribbean.

If I live, I'd probably have a new lease on life from the trauma of not knowing for those two weeks.

I'd take the two weeks off work, aside from probably spending a day making sure I'd documented everything that a successor might need, but that's about the only unusual thing I'd do. I'm not particularly desperate to travel anywhere, all the people I'd want to say goodbye to are readily accessible enough that I don't need to go out of my way to do so, blowing all my money on a 50% chance would be stupid... I'm content to just live the rest of my life as I'm currently living it.

Take out a life insurance policy, I suppose, unless they account for whatever is causing this 50%. :)

Otherwise, yeah, I wish there were something I wanted to do badly enough to be interesting in this scenario. Finish that book I've been trying to write? :)
