shame I can't really imagine FFXVI as a GotY contender... it'll be nice if it actually is that good though! I'm expecting to like the new Theatrhythm and Fire Emblem better at this point.

XB3: Postgame beated, at least as far as I'm willing to go for now.

Did the postgame quests and defeated all Unique Monsters. Getting all gems, upgrading all Soulhacker skills, and maxing out all classes are things I am passing on. Maybe some time down the road on a NG+.

TBQH, Nia should have been recruitable in Chapter 7. Nia's quest was good and I loved the scenes between her and Mio, both at the City and at the completion of the Ascension Quest. Melia's weren't bad but not at quite the same level. Weird to have the conclusion to the Agnus Castle "story" chain locked to postgame though (the bit where the rebels killed Ghondor's friend and relations with the City were tense) same with Triton just randomly having a quest in the City, but hey.

The unique battle theme for the Level 120 superboss was cool. Got him first try though. Weirdly, the one that gave me the most trouble of the superbosses was Perilwing, the giant bird in Aetia. I dunno if he just had brutal AoEs or was just a pain to get positions down or what but he got me like 5 times.

Guess that's that for now, at least until the DLC Waves come in. I haven't yet picked up the Expansion Pass but obviously I'll do that. As my crazy posts in the aftermath of beating the game showed, this game really, really touched me. I've read some fan speculation and interpretations and maybe I'm just mainlining copium/hopium with some of these theories but it's helped me reach something of a level of peace. At the least, the last time I just spontaneously started crying while thinking about the ending (still happening god) it felt less like I was being rent into two and more like hope. Still, Takahashi, please, have the story DLC be sequel DLC and give us the reunion of Mio/Noah and the worlds to officially bring the Klaus experiment to an end. Or look maybe I'll settle for you saying it happened in an interview. >_>

And now I feel stuck in a no-man's-land for what's next. You've got Trails to Zero soon and Chaos;Head not long after that. If I hadn't watched that extensive LP of Zero it'd be the obvious winner and I'd just wait until that release but because I have it's not urgent priority. Might switch back to my Steam WRPG backlog and try and complete the last one on that list with Pathfinder: Kingmaker but idk.

It doesn't take that long to grind every class to Lv20 if you want to do that. Don't grind for all the X Gems. That's going to take like 20+ hours and you'll never use a bunch of them. Definitely do not grind for I to IX Gems that you can't even use after getting the X Gem just to fill in the holes. I drew the line at upgrading Soulhacker skills. I'll upgrade them if I need them.

I liked both Nia and Melia's quests quite a bit. I was sad there wasn't more of it.

I felt like all of the superbosses were a joke. None of them had enough Break resist to stop me from constantly flipping them over. I didn't try levelling any of them up, though. One thing I did like was how there was a cutscene before Seraphic Ceratinia. I didn't expect the game to have any more cutscenes at that point. Perilwing was a big of a pain since it kept running around and stalling for time. But, it just didn't have enough damage output to get past my healers.

The Riku plotline just kinda disappears. I think Noah saying he'll believe Riku even though he obviously doesn't was the last we heard of it. So Riku really isn't special beyond being a particularly skill mechanic.

I'm pretty hyped for the DLC but it is so far away. I'm also still feeling withdrawal symptoms since suddenly I'm not playing Xenoblade 3 for hours and hours each day.

XB3, draws heavily on Xenogears parallels: Basically it extends the "Noah and Mio draw heavily from Fei and Elly" thing even further and equates Noah with a role similar to that of Xenogears' Antitype to Mio's Contact with Origin playing the role of the Wave Existence. Essentially, Mio - all but stated to be Nia's daughter - had some contact with Origin as it was built on the Alrest side. The Antitype is basically Origin's means of interacting with the Contact and is intrinsically connected to it. Noah's seemingly unique awareness of frozen time in the intro cutscene is because of this tie to Origin.

The theory as I saw it proposed suggested that in the stinger that since Origin has now completed its purpose is why Noah vanishes there with that being the sequel DLC hook to kind of seperate Noah's existence from Origin so he can permanently remain. Personally I highly doubt Takahashi implemented a retread so literally but I like the parallels and just cut short the theory there and headcanon that Noah gets sent to Alrest once Origin's purpose is done because of the Antitype/Contact thing.

Though like I said, I very much doubt the parallels were intended to be that strong but it gives me some comfort and just more generally I choose to believe the lyrics to "Where We Belong" mean they do reunite. The above is just a convenient way for me to navigate the practical issues with how it happens.

As for Riku, yeah lol. Not to mention he and Melia share a nod right before she teleports out of Origin once freed suggesting a connection there that has absolutely no followup lol. Still think my "Riku is the mystery Seventh Founder described by the City's Ouroboros Stone plaque" theory is live but if so I fear that might lean towards prequel story DLC of the City's rebuilding after N trashed it and like I said I desperately want my sequel/epilogue DLC lol.

Consul A yeah idk. Seems like obvious DLC material but that could be one of the Hero Quests for all we know. I've also seen it theorized that it's literally Aionios itself.

Have you decided if you are getting the game yet?

It looks like they're putting actual effort into single player modes this time, unlike Street Fighter V, so I probably will.

I never played SF5 but I have heard of the issues the game had, particularly at launch.

I haven't touched the game since like 3 or 4 months after launch, which is a shame, because people say it did get better over time. But as it stands, it's the only Street Fighter game I'd actually say I didn't like.

It just felt like a lazy game that they only wanted to use to profit off of online play and fighting game tournaments, and I just don't have the time or desire anymore to get good enough at a game like this to enjoy that.

If you like Zero that much, you're probably going to love Azure.

3rd > Ao > SC > CS3 > Zero > CS4 > CS1 > CS2 > FC

SC, Ao, CS3 trio all very close. Could reorder them pretty much whichever way.

I think Zero falls short of SC/3rd/Ao for me, but it's still pretty great. The SSS is easily my favorite of the main parties in the series. Also love the Renne plotline.

Estelle, Joshua, and Renne are the best part of Zero. It also has one of the best endings in the series, though that's a pretty low bar. Azure still the better game overall tho.

What system are you playing on? I've heard the PS4 version's quite a bit worse than Switch or PC.

PS4 version is worse than Switch? How did that happen?
