After the clusterfuck that was the last season of GoT, I can't force myself to care. Might get it cheap on DVD if it's released by Black Friday.

Nobody is hyped for anything A Song of Ice and Fire after how they ended Game of Thrones

This is supposed to be unique source material right? Or was it also supposed to be written by George RR Martin? This isn't based on any books he's written so far?

Idk why they're making a Jon Snow show. Kit Harrington must not be getting many roles because apparently he's the one that pitched the show.

I feel like this show is in an intresting position, it may determine whether GoT as a franchise can continue to exist and have a media presence or it will be the true final nail in the coffin for the franchise.

I'm more intrested in this theory than I am the actual show though, as someone who used to be a fan of GoT.

I'll probably watch it once I can see it all at once. DragonBall Z traumatized me with cliffhangers on Toonami when I was younger. Season cliffhangers are fine i guess.

Like my wife said, they have a lot of trust to gain back after the GoT ending

But if it's good and people are talking about it, they might get back some of the viewers they lost

I don't think so, they had a few ideas on the table involving a prequel or spin-off, this is what they decided to go with

I'll be watching it, my wife is a huge GoT fan so it's something we can enjoy together.

I don't think the quality of GoT will have any effect in this show, it's just another way to get into the world. I'm also looking forward to the Rings of Power show which will hopefully be at least ok.

Been looking forward to it for a long time. I don't expect it to be as good as the first few seasons of GoT, but then I don't expect any show to be that good. That was some of the best TV ever.

I might give it a curiosity watch. I didn't even hate the end of GoT as much as most people, but once it was done, I was kind like "Well, I'm done with this forever now" It's honestly impressive how something could be like, the biggest show in the world and then have almost immediate cultural irrelevancy. Its interesting that they're striking when the iron is ice cold with this show lol

I just started rewatching GoT today to prepare (not going to start watching the new show till at least a few episodes are out, or perhaps the whole season, so gives me plenty of time to rewatch the original).

I am skipping the last season though and this time will have it end while it still isn't crap and they have not totally ruined all the characters (Except Arya, they didn't totally ruin her, just everyone else).

First episode is violent and bloody, magnificent dragons and full of Matt Smith in a platinum blond wig.

When I see British men with platinum blond hair it just makes me think of Boris Johnson or Jimmy Savile I don't think it's a good look.

Fatigue on how bad GoT ended, plus I'm behind on so many other shows as is due to work (The Boys, Westworld, etc.). I generally hate prequel stuff like that, too.

He actually looks great and plays the character extremely well though. I don't know how deep the inbreeding goes with Targaryens but I've yet to see one looking like a Joffrey.

Yes, some of it may even be off putting, especially when the King makes his decision, you'll know it when you see it.

I thought it was a great premiere. Looking forward to the rest, I enjoyed Fire and Blood as well which this based off of.

So I finally watched it last night and it wasnt bad. Idk how I feel about jumping on another GoT emotional rollercoaster.

I forgot about the nudity and have to say Im disappointed about having to see Dr Whos ass.

But as an artist and reptile enthusiast, I loved Caraxes design.

I think you are referring to Rhaenyra. I know the names can be confusing, by Rhaenys is the older lady that is married to Corlys (the black guy on the council), also referred to as the queen who never was. Rhaenyra will also be played by another actress as a time skip is going to happen at some point where she will be older.

Ahh interesting, and yeah I meant Rhaenyra, and that makes sense that there will be a time skip and an older actress, I felt like there was something missing with her, like she was a place holder or an attempt to meld fans of two previous characters into one or something.

I suck at names, even normal ones lol. The actress wasn't horrid, just.....didn't really have the personality you need if it's going to be a primary character or didn't feel like it to me. Matt's character (Vysaries or whatever, again horrid at names) though def had a personality there, and looked far more long term. Even the current king etc had more depth.

Looking forward to the next episode and def think it was a good start. If it had been twice as long and a movie I would have considered it a good one.

In the book she did kind of have a wild streak that reminded me of Arya a little bit. Defitenly some nods towards Dany in the show, I think that is more call backs to the original series though. Hopefully she will stand on her own as the show goes on. I thought she was pretty good in the roll, so hopefully the older version of her will be as well.
