It's a Marzen from Toppling Goliath. An Iowa brewery typically known for Hazy IPAs and Pale Ales.

Marzens are the old school Oktoberfests that most people outside of Germany know, which are amber. The modern Munich festival Oktoberfest is a Festbier, which are golden.

Gotcha. Consider me extra jelly then, I could go for a Marzen right now.

Well, I moved on to the Bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout.

This will be it for the night though. Gf is home and will want to watch sitcoms in bed soon. She keeps me from being a full blown alcoholic.

Yeah I was in a major panic during my whole marriage process. Within 2 1/2 weeks, my wife and I planned a wedding with no help, lost my job, we both moved nearly 3 hours from home(me moving away from the only small country town I've ever lived in), and starting a new job. All that change to someone who doesn't like change...think it aged me a couple years.

Yeah it was very rough. Basically my first IT job was letting me go because of politics but gave me a two month notice. Figured out within that time that I wouldn't be able to find another IT job in that area cause there just weren't any. I started applying in two nearby cities. I got a job and would have to move. We also didn't want to do long distance and she didn't want to live together without being married cause her family would bitch. Thankfully we had already decided we were probably going to get married 8 months from then anyway so we just moved it up. It was very interesting telling all the family that 1. we were engaged and 2. the wedding was in 2 1/2 weeks.

Oh and when I say we planned with nearly no help, I mean we ordered all the decorations from Amazon, put them up in the venue, we made the flower arrangements, and my wife catered the wedding(cake and all) for 50 people.

I'm still not sure how we pulled it off.

Johnny was a schoolboy when he heard his first Beatle song,
'Love me do,' I think it was. From there it didn't take him long.
Got himself a guitar, used to play every night,
Now he's in a rock 'n' roll outfit,

And everything's all right, don't you know?

Went to work this morning for 3 hours. Came back, took my dad to the oncologist for a blood draw. They had to give him an IV of Saline to rehydrate him. Had my work phone with me. walked a few people through shit without my laptop to help while im out. Had to help my dad outta the wheel chair and into the car because of his weakness he's getting now. Got him home. Back to work, make him dinner.

This might be how it is for a while. I got a positive attitude about it and we laughed at all the super close lightning strikes on the way home on the Interstate.

Now he's good and i'm poundin the beer in me. Do it all again tomorrow. I got this.

On an unrelated note, and interesting development occurred when I got back from the liquor store tonight... and by interesting, I mean interesting to anyone who has been posting pics of and/or interested in posted pics of moths and other bugs/buglike critters lately...

On my driveway, I discovered a literal shit-zone from a large caterpillar. It would be either a Luna, Polyphemus or Cecropia moth (all 3 are native here and are the big ones in this area and all are known to feed on Birch). There is a birch tree in the neighbors' yard that is right next to the fence bordering my yard, so a lot of branches hang over. This confirms at least one large caterpillar that I could potentially find and raise, which is something I fucking love to do. The only problem though... is that the shit-zone is in a specific location on the driveway where the lowest overhanding branches are like 20-30 feet up, so either I am shit out of luck, the caterpillar will have to go to lower branches for me to get to it, which would be all coincidental and luck-based... or I would have to ask my landlord if he has a ladder that goes that high and if I could borrow it and he could steady it for me as I go up... which would be a pretty fucking awkward conversation at least at first, like "hey man you got a ladder that goes up 20-30 and if so could you help me get up into this tree even though it's in the neighbors' yard? I'm a caterpillar enthusiast and there's a big one up there, which I know because all these little things here littering our driveway are caterpillar shit-turds so it's somewhere directly above us right now..."

So I got diagnosed with depression yesterday. I knew I had it, I've known since I was a teenager (32 now), just never did anything about it in that toxic masculinity sort of way.

Got a psychologist lined up, and started on Zoloft, diazepam and propranolol.

I've always been able to manage it and my anxiety pretty well. Sometimes the anxiety physical symptoms flared up and I'd go get a diazepam script to just deal with them and they'd go back to normal after a couple weeks, but the last few weeks have been really bad and the mental symptoms are the worst they've ever been. So yeah, decided to actually do something about it.

Not sure what caused it, I don't think I had any trauma that would cause it, although I don't really remember my childhood much, so I've got no doubt that it was probably my parents in some way (not that they would've ever MEANT it, they were never abusive at all), but I honestly have no idea, I need a psychologist to drag it out of me, no doubt. The doctor after 20min of listening to me actually open up (which turned into a bit of a rambling word vomit, kind of like this post) was just like O_O and said it'll be 2 years psychology, 6 months medication MINIMUM.

So, yeah. Nothing about me has changed, it's how I've always been, just actually gonna do something about it, or try.

So I'm not allowed to drink (much) or do anything else "fun".
