tonight I learned that a 1-armed neighbor who I assumed was a vet who lost said arm in combat actually lost said arm as a teenager when he was messing around and was hit by a train very close to where I (and he used to) live O_O

nah. I had seen him around before I ever interacted with him. Heard the story about the train from someone else who knew him ages ago (1-arm dude moved last year)

also had a very dumb thing happen in poker

had pocket jacks and went all in after flop with full house (board was 77J). Got 2 callers. Board ended up quadding itself (77J77) and because one of the other assholes had an ace, I and the other guy were both eliminated

I remember listening to one of their songs when I was on shrooms and even though I really liked it, I had to turn it off because even though I liked hearing it, I couldn't deal with seeing it. I think it was called High Hopes or The Division Bell or something like that. It had an actual bell in the song and a sort of melancholy, haunting piano intro.

Clydebot is Discord's auto bot. It can be a real dick but if it shows up it means he was trying to message someone who's settings deny any PM other than from friends or w/e

Read the second reason in the error message. I think by default you need to be discord friends in order to DM someone. Johnny can either change that setting or Q can just click on Johnny's name and add him as a friend.

Fuck Johnny. That's awful. I know he wasn't in good shape but didn't realize he was that bad.

I know you don't want to think about it but you need to prepare yourself for everything that comes after someone passing. The paperwork, insurance, finances, funeral, ownership of his assets. Hopefully you have some one to help you split up those responsibilities.

I did everything I needed to do without thinking twice about it. Whatever was needed it was getting done. I'm going to have a gap in my life now because I don't have to go up to a hospital to see him or deal with something. I can just grieve finally and he doesn't have to be in pain anymore.

I'll eventually be fine but I swear to fuck I tell people you can never fully prepare for that feeling when it happens.

That's great man. I was worried you got a call from the hospital out of no where breaking the news. I can still think back to the last time I spoke with my grandma and remember it fondly cause I knew it was probably the last time I was going to see her. I didn't get that chance with my cousin or my childhood best friend. It's been ~5 years and it still feels like there's a lack of closure with those last two.

That's also fantastic. Most people don't think about getting those affairs in order until after the passing. Then they have to flip back and forth between grieving and pushing those emotions down to get the business stuff done. Like you said, you can now just focus on processing.
