Fidough is a Fairy type dog Pokemon.

When I saw it in the trailer, it didn't give off the appearance of a Fairy type.

Cetitan is an Ice type Pokemon. If they're revealing it this early, it could be a rare example of an early game Ice type.

Is the new gimmick super lazy or what
Like, if everyone can use it, and there are 400 Pokemon, it just means they have a one effect per type (or maybe two) and that's it?
Like if a Pokemon is a fire type it will have candles coming out from it's butt or somerhing like the fire starter had on his head

If it's truly an open world, there might not be much of a difference between early-game and late-game, especially if you can navigate to all areas without much trouble.

Well according to leaks theres no level scaling so I have no idea how people are going to do gyms in any order. I think that was part of the leaks that have been accurate

Leaks are real. Hyped for a high new Pokemon count. :o

Curious to learn more about the non-gym storylines (three "routes" was also in the leaks).

I'm fine with the battle gimmick. Could be interesting, and faster raids without waiting for other people to attack could be great.

Okay Buzz Killington, but I haven't seen the leaks, and honestly I'd prefer to avoid non-official sources (everything but trailers/official website) to go in as blind as possible.

I wonder how many fan artists will draw female Grusha before noticing. I definitely did not think the character was male. Penny looked like they couldve been a boy or a girl too even with the name typically being a girl one.

I don't like this game's artstyle, it just looks off.

I don't understand why they feel the need to come up with some battle gimmick in every generation that's somehow half-baked and overwrought at the same time, but Terastallizing at least looks less stupid than Gigantamaxing.

I'm not the target audience for recent generations of Pokemon anyway, though, so I don't know how much my opinions matter.

I think it's just the human character designs because the rest of the art looks good. Most of the people look bad except for Grusha and Penny. I can already tell the enbys will claim them.

So far I only think Nemona and Sada look decent for the characters. The trainer outfits are bad and otherwise the rest of the humans weve seen havent looked very good unfortunately. Coming off of some of the top tier designs Sword/Shield had its disappointing

I don't think there's ever been a less hype Pokmon gen.

I didn't like Arceus much but a ton of people did, and releasing a new game in the same year that takes nothing from it just seems idiotic.

And yeah it doesn't help that the character designs overall are so muted with just one or two exceptions, nothing close to SwSh which, regardless of people's stance on the game itself, is proving to stand the test of time from a character standpoint more than any Gen since 1. Artists haven't slown down at all.

Meanwhile basically the entire fanartist community stopped drawing that female professor after a week.

Open world and being able to do the gyms in any order is good (unless there really is no level scaling, but... why?). They said some things that sounded promising. Hope it plays well and that they really have shaken the formula up, time will tell I guess.

It definitely looks like they took some stuff from Arceus at least.

Hmm mechanics-wise I am not sure I am against the new battle gimmick
Like say you have a Garchomp and then the opponent sends out a Weavile to counter you
But your Garchomp Tera type is Fire
So Weavile use Ice Shards and thinking he got you but you chose to Terastallize into a fire type and got hit for not very effective instead
So in a way a Pokemon can change it's type to counter it's weaknesses if it wants
Or to increase it's offense (because it has extra STAB bonus)
And of course it can take advantage of abilities like Pokemon with Leviate changing into Electric type

This is what I understood at least, maybe I am wrong

All I'm hearing is that OP beefy pokes just got a whole lot better and glass cannons will go the way of the dodo.

I think this game looks like it's gonna be better than Sword and Shield. It looks more polished, the gimmick looks more manageable, and the leaks have some neat stuff. The "hype" being dead is not a real issue. That's just marketing.

That said I don't disagree that Gamefreak could still use more time to bake their games in the oven.

Sword Shield sold a ton BECAUSE of hype, it certainly wasn't because the game was super great! That game looked crazy good before it came out, and was a huge visual overhaul....by Pokemon standards. It was the first time I had been excited to get a Pokmon game since...Silver!

When a franchise reaches this many entries without any REAL shakeups, hype is basically all it has.

I predict this game will sell notably worse than SwSh (not LOW of course, it's still gonna do tons), and I don't even think that's a hot take.

nah, it's easily going to be 20 mill+

This game is the most the main series has been shaken up ever, though (other than Arceus, but despite technically being mainline, it's still more or less a spin-off). Open world with possibly good co-op gameplay, and gyms are only 1 of 3 different progression routes you can go down now. Depending on how those other 2 routes turn out, this will be the most ambitious Game Freak has been... ever?

Leak info also it'll be the first time we've been back over 100 new Pokemon in over a decade

At 20 mil that would still be notably less! 3 to 4 million less people buying a game is nothing to shake a stick at, even if it's just a drop in the pond. Game profits are an absurdly miniscule part of Pokemon's profits as a brand, but numbers are numbers.

20m+ is an absolute win for everyone involved tbh.

I don't think the decrease in sales is going to be any less than any other "second gen on its console". BW sold notably less than DP. SM sold notably less than XY. Like, you're not making a bold statement here, it's still going to be the 3rd-best-selling game in the series at worst

Look, fundamentally there's like 5% difference between a leak and a spoiler, and I don't want to be spoiled about a game that isn't scheduled to come out for three and a half months. This topic is about the pokemon presents, so am I wrong to not expect untagged spoilers about stuff not in it? That's where my frustration is coming from.

I fully understand that going in mostly blind isn't the majority opinion but is my only option to just not open topics about upcoming stuff at all, and not discuss new information?

This sounds all good on paper, but everyone saw this stuff and the actual buzz after this direct is still the lowest I've ever seen after a mainline Pokmon direct. Not to get too LMS here (no YouTube personality videos or reddit threads I swear!), but I've seen multiple people say they are less interested in this game now than they were before the direct.

Now, I DO think a lot of that is that the generation specific battle gimmick has reached critical mass, and people are being turned off by the crystallization thing. The minute details of the gameplay changes are being overshadowed by the focus of the direct being a big stinker.

If online discourse mattered at all, then Sw/Sh would've bombed. The pre-release online discourse for that was an absolute dumpster fire. Between Dexit and complaints about graphics, you'd have expected Pokemon was dead.

I usually hate leaks but I don't mind this one

yeah it would never cross my mind that someone would want to avoid knowing a basic mechanical structure of the game thing like that prerelease

No level scaling even seems to be pretty implied by the description on the official site.

"There is no set path to the Gyms. You can purposefully seek out a stronger Gym Leader, or you can simply stop by a Gym that happens to be located in a town you came across on your journey. This time, you get to plot your very own path along Victory Road."

It makes me seriously wonder how these 3 routes and stuff are going to work. If you focused on the other 2 before gyms it sounds like youd be stomping the first gym with your lv50 or higher Pokemon while theyre sending out a lv12 base form.

As for the rest unfortunately thats how it goes with stuff as huge as Pokemon. You basically have to go off the grid to not have anything spoiled because somebody has already leaked damn near everything. Its like the MCU of Nintendo games. People are gonna leak it months before its due out, but I guess thankfully with Pokmon at least it doesnt have any plot worth anything to be ruined. Its just designs and gameplay mechanics that get spoiled which does ruin it for some people, but just watching this trailer already feels like it reveals a ton of what to expect of the world/battles anyways.

Theres been a pattern for a few years now of them having a Pokmon spin-off release in the early part of the year. (MD DX, Snap, Arceus). so I bet theres something being worked on that theyre just not announcing yet.

Hmm, the website mentions there's a Champion Rank class of trainers. Instead of just saying you beat the league and become Champion, it seems to be implying that there's still more to do once you hit Champion Rank. Perhaps there will be a slew of strong Champion Rank trainers to fight in the post-game or something. Or perhaps S/V's version of the Elite 4 is just another tournament like Sw/Sh, and you're just fighting other trainers who achieved Champion Rank.

Looking at the story page above, it seems the three routes are gyms, something to do with racing, and then what looks like an actual storyline about the Tera whatsit (and based on the leaks, probably also the past/future Pokemon stuff).

I'm actually super surprised the region isn't going to be largely uninhabited. After the DLC and Arceus, I was seriously only expecting a few cities and then just a bunch of open wilderness. You can also see various racing flags spread throughout that probably deal with one of the three progression routes.

Maybe it's a biker gang, lol. Maybe there will even be "antagonists" for all three routes. Rival school for the gyms, biker gang for the racing, and typical "we want to end the world" baddies for the crystal stuff.
