Stranger Things Season 2 Episode 6 complete!

This is a story of how two girls fell in love with their stalkers.

I think I'm getting close to the end of Arkham City. Don't think I'll take the time to finish all the Riddler stuff this time. I don't really like how the game is doing them or how they keep track of them. Plus, there's just a ton more of them this time.

Arkham City beated (unless they're faking me out)! Behold the tragic clown. Boss fight against Clayface was pretty fun.

Not sure which game I'd say was better. I think City probably has the better story, but the gameplay felt more hit or miss for me than Asylum.

I've heard Arkham Knight isn't as well regarded as these two (not sure about Origins but I don't own that one anyway), so I might hold off on that one for now.

TWEWY2: Week 2 beated. Huh. Probably should have saw Shiba double-shifting as GM and leader of the Ruinbringers coming but I guess I was hoping for something less obviously rigged. Also he's saying this is the final week and I believe him because TWEWY was 3 weeks but I mean, a 4th week should be possible there'd still be two teams! As for the ongoing "who is Swallow" plot I'm more convinced than ever that it's Shoka. She's been my leading contender for the longest time but she is way too attached to Rindo for someone who was literally on his team for less than a day so there has to be something more there. Also as a Reaper she probably could have circumvented the whole "Swallow was texting Rindo in the RG well before all this started but conveniently ended up in the UG at basically the same time to keep texting" thing. Minamimoto was conspicuously absent the entire week and basically never came up as a topic of conversation with Beat on the team which was unfortunate. I wanted his reaction to that news lol. Fret (or someone) mentioned "Mr. Minami" one time during all that, I need someone to say his whole name darnit.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Shiba or how he was used in the game.

I have a friend who loves Origins.

Finished my first playthrough of Triangle Strategy just now. Last few chapters seemed like they should have been harder but I had a few units that felt massively OP (my Erador was basically immortal as long as I got rid of mages quickly) so they ended up being fine. Still some pretty fun/satisfying stuff in there though.

Good game! Did most of my choices being the "good guy" (protect Roland, report Sorsley, defend the Roselle) and then swerved at the end to take Benedict's route because the other two options didn't appeal to me. Sucked having to get rid of Roland, but he made it clear he didn't want to be king anyway so eh. Plus I recruited another spear user in Chapter 15 who served similar purposes (because of course he wasn't dead). I like Exharme far more than I should as a "rival" and having a proper confrontation with him was very satisfying - the Hierophant fight at the end felt comparatively underwhelming but was still a cool reveal even if "it was actually just Idore all along" seemed like a pretty foreseeable twist. Kind of funny that the bad end is basically just "unfettered capitalism" but that's in line with siding with Aesfrost.

Will probably want to do at least one more playthrough for the true ending at some point - not sure if I want to do that now or play something else in my backlog. Not sure I like it quite enough to beat it four times. >_>

It's hard to describe, but man, your movement in Sonic Forces doesn't feel good, especially with jumping. It just feels like Sonic doesn't jump very high. And in one stage playing as Classic Sonic, my momentum just ran out for no discernible reason a couple of times. It was weird.

also from a story perspective, I gotta say, having not one but two silent protagonists in the same game doesn't feel like a great decision

Sonic Forces (including Episode Shadow) beated! This game is...okay. There are 30 regular levels and some bonus levels, and there were only a couple where I felt like "wow that was really fun" after I had beaten it.

Maybe I'd feel differently if I replayed some of them (because Sonic is one of those series where part of the fun comes from replaying levels because your gradual improvement is so noticeable), but most of the levels feel pretty much the same.

In some cases, they are. We didn't need three different versions of Green Hill and Chemical Plant. Sonic Team needs to move on from remaking those two levels (but based on Frontiers, it doesn't look like they are since they've already said there's a Green Hill type zone). It'd be like if every Mario game remade 1-1 and 1-2 from SMB1. I get that they're classic levels, but enough is enough.

Actually, the Episode Shadow levels might have been the best designed levels (the bonus levels were pretty good too since they revolved around a unique gimmick so they stood out), so it made me kinda sad that there are only three of them.

The avatar character was a unique concept and I liked the tether ability (especially since I had just played two of the Arkham games right before it, so it felt Batman-like). I didn't like that your access to the level's secrets depended on which Wisp power you had equipped at the time. It feels like a cheap way to achieve replayability, but I guess I'd have done it if I actually felt it was worth it. The Wisp powers didn't feel that well implemented either.

Overall, yeah, an okay game. Decent boss fights, I will say (although there was no Chaos boss fight despite him appearing in the game for some reason). Might have been the best designed part of the game (although a couple of them take too long).

Classic Sonic should not have been in that game. He feels awful compared to generations.

Modern and Avatar were pretty good. It's a disappointing first playthrough with 1-2 minute stages, but pretty fun to optimize.

Yeah, they were able to have 30 stages by making them all super short, which is part of the disappointment.

And yeah, Classic Sonic was not well used. His levels in particular felt really barebones except for the S3&K Death Egg Zone level.

You won't like Mai when she's angry. Also if Mikoto's brother is the Obsidian Prince (presumably this Reito guy), then wouldn't killing Mikoto eliminate him? Unless it's only if you destroy the Child itself. Also I'm thinking this ghost white HiME is Shiho since they associated her with a crow in this episode.

RIP Takumi. Kagutsuchi is pretty strong. I think if a Hime is called it works the same way as if you killed the Child but I'm not sure.

I really enjoyed it. Not sure whether I preferred the plot of this one or the original, but the sequel's gameplay was definitely better.

Nice! Maybe I'll give them a try one day. I've just heard mixed reviews about them, so I haven't taken the plunge just yet.

Yeah I definitely saw some mixed opinions on the first one (I thought it was great). The one criticism I thought was pretty valid was that in the first game's Somnia (the puzzle sections) it felt like you were just guessing most of the time. They totally fixed that in the sequel, though.

Yeah, the second game seems to be better received, from what I've seen.

Also I decided to start Horizon Zero Dawn. I've been curious about the game for a while, so I decided to take the plunge. I don't know much about it other than the main character is Aloy and it's set in a post-apocalyptic world.

As the game opens, there's something comforting about hearing Dojima's voice actor playing another stern yet caring father.

I suspected for a while that Shizuru was a HiME. Also, I guess Mikoto found a way to dodge that attack, which would explain why her "brother" was still around.

So Horizon Zero Dawn is giving off major Nier Automata vibes in terms of the story and the setting (the gameplay is pretty different). We'll see if it continues in that direction or not.

While I appreciate the vibe this episode had (reminded me a lot of the first episode, which I liked a lot), it makes me wonder why they couldn't have made the entire show more like this.

Yeah, I feel pretty comfortable saying Ms. Marvel has the worst antagonists of any MCU installment. Most of the other bad ones are basically just nothings as opposed to actively nonsensical.

The finale was pretty fun at least.

Overall, I didn't think this season was bad. It did feel kind of unfocused, which stands out compared to the laser focus the first season had.

Season 2 is definitely the weakest, so if you still enjoyed it you should be good for the rest of the series.

Season 2 is where Steve goes from "eh" to one of the best characters in the show. And he stays there. So there's that!

Well, I'm going to be out of town from Monday until Friday, so there won't be much watching or playing from me until then!

TWEWY2 Week 3 Day 4 beated.

that's a couple of days so just to break this down a bit.

Day 2: This was a really good day, IMO. Possibly the best so far? I really liked jumping back and having all those chats with Shoka. Curious if we explore her backstory further on why she didn't want to return to the RG and chose to be a Reaper instead.

Day 3: The premise was neat but it ended up being more straightforward than I expected. Jumping back to learn what happened because you start with the day's memories gone was cool but there was a moment where Fret took a hit from an infected Player and I thought for sure that was going to be the moment the infection passed to him - he even started getting more agitated after that. So I fully expected that when we jumped back to change the future we'd still fail and would have to realize that was the key moment but nope guess not! A bit surprised Kanon and her team got taken out on Day 3.

Day 4: how did that chump Kubo get Kariya at all tbqh. Also lmao Minamimoto showing back up to knife him in the back. Finally got my "Beat reacts" moment too lol. Neku showing up to bail him out feels a bit "what the" in its convenience but he literally just showed back up so I'll see if there was a reason for that moment. Also lol that Minamimoto immediately ceases hostility and is like "well shit, guess I'll just go back to being a cryptic helper" once Neku arrives. He suggests there's someone above Shiba at play here but I mean while Joshua has been conspicuously absent thus far the two Secret Reports I've picked up seem to point to Rindo being Joshua's proxy so I don't think he's secretly the villain again. Though there does seem to be some evidence that Shiba and the Shinjuku crew abruptly changed back before they destroyed the place so maybe it's related.

Heck yeah great moments, loved getting the Transformation remix with Minamimoto there.

Yeah, that was cool.
