I will say in my personal experience, getting an IUD is the most painful thing I've ever experienced and I've still done it 3 times.

I don't think my girlfriend ranks it quite that badly, but she also suffers from periodic catastrophic migraines, so I think that's more an issue of having a different frame of reference than her not minding the IUD.

Consider that what you're saying is basically the same as telling somebody not to practice judaism or have any sort of homosexual interactions in Nazi Germany: It works around the problem, sure, but it doesn't solve it, and that workaround involves pretty considerable personal sacrifice.

With appropriate birth control (made readily available and not restricted by Y'all Qaeda), you can reduce the risk of pregnancy to be low enough as to be negligible on a personal scale. That's not to say you can't still make the decision to avoid sex altogether to stamp out that last bit of risk, but it does mean that most people are going to be able to have sex freely and never end up with an unwanted pregnancy. Most, however, is not all, which is why there needs to be a backup plan for the handful of couples that slip through the cracks.

How is it ok that half (or slightly over half) of our population is female, but only 1/3rd of the supreme court and a small portion of any important positions in government are held by women.

I'm not a woman, I'm not going to have kids at this point and I'm depressed/sick and unmotivated, so I really shouldn't get involved in the discussion at this point. I won't even vote anymore (already decided) since I leave all the decisions up to everyone else. I'm not that old though, and I could possibly live for awhile, and I DID try and make a difference throughout my life. I voted, I volunteered at voting booths in CA, I stumped for politicians etc. I'm past that now, but it's hard for me to totally stop getting involved in conversations. Just because I have decided to step back, doesn't mean I still don't want to state my opinion or talk about stuff......it just means I probably shouldn't.

Many will. That's a given. Many won't. That's also a given. While striking down this ruling doesn't amount to a federal abortion ban, Roe v. Wade acted to protect women from lawmakers that want to strip them of their rights, and many states (the usual offenders) have been poised to implement draconian bans pretty much since the ruling first came out.

While it's true that men have no business demanding that women make sacrifices they will never have to make, women dictating what other women do with their bodies isn't much better. Being able to make a decision about your own abortion doesn't grant any rights to decide what decisions other women make about theirs, after all.

The worst part is the hypocrisy. If you read the opinion of the court, it's just bullshit disguising their bias. The Supreme Court is supposed to be better than this. It's not their job to change law to suit their interests or the interests of those that put them in power. Roe v. Wade went the way it did because it is a logical conclusion to protect the right to get an abortion when drawing from the constitution. Their bias could not be more obvious here. They did not perform their role properly. Big bummer.

Thats not actually what the Supreme Court decided though. Roe v Wade was about privacy for a person to have their health care decision between themselves and their doctors without the government telling them its illegal. It just happened to be a case about abortion.

Its also going to have terrifying consequences for other privacy related issues.

I'm not gonna have kids at this point in my life, but if I was, I would move out of the US first for sure. Too many reasons not to stay here. School shootings, lack of maternity leave, Lack of sufficient hospitals/health care etc etc.

If I was a woman and still have kids, and planned on it, I would move just so I didn't find a guy here I wanted to marry that had to stay in this country due to work etc. Rather be in a place where I knew I could start a family if I wanted to.
