The state just went from super strict to...almost Texas-like.

Holy smokes.

It used to be only privileged adults could carry guns in New York state; now it's open to any adult essentially.

New York City news networks are upset right now.

I'll give it a month before some mass shooting in a public place. Grocery store, mall, or other complex with high amounts of foot traffic.

New York's law was that you needed a "proper cause" to get a concealed carry permit, and saying that you felt unsafe in your neighborhood and wanted to protect yourself/property was not a valid reason. That is definitely unconstitutional.

Not at all since the 2nd amendment clearly states that the right to keep and bear arms "shall not be infringed"

Therefore, ruling in favor of conceal carry is in fact properly interpreting the constitution as it was written.

And with how increasing useless cops appear to be and how much crime is increasing, I like the idea of being able to carry.

I rode the NYC Subway system though some of the worst years, crime-wise, and my Dad literally rode it every day from 1973 till the day he retired in 2008.

I can count on one hand the incidents of crime I've seen on the subway.

Concealed carry permit holders commit crimes at a significantly smaller rate than those without a permit.

Legally obtained handguns aren't the problem.

The problem is people with semiautomatic rifles.

I know people hate the GOP. But gotta give credit unlike the Dems they are giving their voters what they promised. They are banning abortions and stopping gun control.

Still waiting for Dems to cancel student loans like they promised that was why I voted for Biden.

Agreed. Which is why whenever the conversation of gun violence comes up, conservatives scream "But what about Chicago!" and never mention Birmingham, Baltimore, or St. Louis, all cities within states that have Republican Governors.

you literally still have to go through all of the training and requirements to carry concealed which is STILL one of the most strict in the country. all this did was get rid of a reason to do so which has been abused by the state for far too long. a VAST majority of the country (including blue states) already are a shall issue at the very least with half of the country being constitutional carry. only 8 or 9 states were actual may-issue.

this wont change the state into some mad max apocalypse especially when licensed concealed carry holders statistically are some of the most law abiding in the country, more so than off duty police officers.
