  1. Self isolate/quarantine at home for 2 weeks or until a few days after you test negative for it.
  2. If you do go out, wear a mask (or double masks) everywhere, avoid people as much as possible and only go out for food/emergencies.
  3. Travel on public transportation at all, even with a mask.
  4. Tell everyone you know so they stay away/safe.
  5. Fly home from a trip over seas while wearing a mask.
  6. Fly home from a trip over seas without a mask.
  7. Eat out at a restaraunt without a mask (since your eating)
  8. Have room service come into your hotel room to fix things up.
  9. Let another person sleep in the bed/sheets and blankets you slept in while infected without being washed.
  10. Report that you have covid if you are on a cruise or in another country etc.

Just curious what everyones answers will be. I know of someone who tested positive with covid and they reacted WAY differently than I would have in the same situation.

For my part my answers are.

1: yes
2: I wouldn't go out.
3: I wouldn't travel
4: I would tell everyone right away and not visit anyone until healthy.
5: I would not fly anywhere or get on a bus, or in an uber etc while infected.
6: No flying.
7: No eating out...I would order uber eats for contactless delivery and safeway.delievery (I have a plan for that in fact, I will park my car at the top of the hill and leave my trunk open if it ever happens so they can put the groceries in it).
8: That anyone would even think of doing this sigh. No I wouldn't.
9: Again, how do people think this is ok. Never.
10: That is the only one that is hard, I would be scared and would probably try to just self quarantine if possible, especially depending on the country. As far as on a cruise......the horror stories I have heard of lock downs on them....I would just avoid the situation being possible if I could. I don't know what I would do in the case of me being in that position, but I doubt I would ever be in it. I might just jump off the ship lol.

What would you'all do?

Yeah I actually have the second booster shot already, so I'm pretty safe. I would just test and wait a few days till I tested negative myself, no matter how long that took, but hopefully it would only be 5-7 days and then I would wait another 2.

Even if I got the virus, I wouldn't wear a mask or get the shots since I'm religiously and medically exempt. But I would just stay home.

  1. no, not an option for me
  2. yeah I dont have any issue wearing a mask
  3. yes as its the only option for me
4-6 i have no one to tell or visit. I wouldnt tell my roommates. Thats fucked up I know but if I told them Id be kicked out and then Id be sleeping on the street where I REALLY couldnt isolate

7) rarely do that at all and if I knew I had covid obviously not
8) not unless I was getting the ol rub n tug
9) if I knew someone else was gonna sleep where I sleep I would wash the linens even if I wasnt sick
10) it would suck to be isolated but Id go ahead and tell them. Those are both situations where not letting someone know could infect just countless people who would go on to spread it all over the world.

1. I would try to isolate for a week, but I can only get 5 days. If I had the common strain that was asymptomatic for a few days, I'd be locking myself for those 5 days so I'd stop being a spreader.

2./3./5./6./7./8./9. I would not go out; but I'm also pretty good at keeping a week of snacks lying around (and 3~4 weeks of survival food).

4. Well, I'm a gig worker on my friends' social media anyway, so them getting more of my natter is a tell-tale sign "I've got time on my hands".

10. That's just good protocol to let the place you're staying at know "nope, gotta ship me off".

  1. As much as I could, even with Covid I still have things to do that would mean leaving the house
  2. Probably wear a mask and avoid people as much as possible
  3. Nah, I have a car
  4. Yeah, probably send a message to the fam, but my wife and kid are stuck here with me :P
  5. If I were on vacation when I tested positive, I wouldnt change plans but would wear a mask when it's time to leave
  6. Read no.5
  7. Probably wouldn't eat at a restaurant with Covid
  8. Sure, hotel staff are well prepared for people with Covid
  9. That wouldn't happen, once you check out your room thoroughly gets cleaned
  10. I'm sure the cruise line would have me tested before boarding, if I'm positive I'm sure they wouldnt let me aboard. If I were in another country (depending on their current Covid strictness) and tested positive I'd follow their guidelines, if none are in place I wouldnt worry about it

Thanks, I realize my perspective/views are a bit extreme and not everyone feels that way, and to be honest I'm feeling a bit upset about my friends actions. Seeing that other people think in a similar way helps a bit. Still can't see myself doing that, but at least I can see that other people would continue on with life. I had to argue with my friend to prevent some of the above actions being done (and he was upset about it). Rather not ruin a friendship but also just can't sit by and let people be put at risk either. Was a very tough situation tbh.

Our government recommends staying at home for 5 days and staying away from those who are at high risk for 10 days. I live with my old man so that ship would have sailed. I'd still stay at home for the five days though while only going to the local shops for stuff. I'd let my family know I have covid and wouldn't travel or eat out.

If you're in the US you can get free test kits sent to you. Initially it was just two boxes of 4 (8 total) but they just doubled that.

I've had my 4th booster already btw. It did not go well though and I had them add to my chart that I can't/won't get another moderna booster at least.

I feel pretty confident about not getting it myself at this point, but I have gotten a cough a few times and used 3 of my test kits to make sure I didn't have it (and couldn't spread it to others). I still have 5 left, and have not even ordered the second set of boxes.

I don't interact with the public much since I live out on an island, just mainly going into town to shop every week or two and that is it....which makes it fairly unlikely for me to be exposed. If I did get it, just staying home for 2 weeks would not be a major difference to me.....so that also makes such a decision easier. Pretty sure I would still do that even if I lived in town etc though.

Self isolate according to whatever the most recent provincial guidelines were before the government gave up entirely in a thinly-veiled effort to appeal to the conservative voters that were cheering on the terrorist party in Ottawa. Any guidelines released since then obviously have nothing to do with sensible public health advice and can be safely ignored in favour of the older guidelines that actually helped. Last I remember, I think it was a two-week isolation, but it may be shorter for vaccinated people.

Waiting for a negative test, however, isn't necessary, since you can test positive for like three months after the first positive test, and isolating for three months definitely isn't necessary.

Usually, travel restrictions calling for a negative test will also accept a positive test from over two weeks prior. I think testing positive for that long may be new with Omicron, but either way, waiting for a negative test isn't particularly necessary (even without adopting the all-too-common attitude that doing anything to avoid spreading a highly infectious disease isn't necessary).

I work at an assisted living facility. There is no excuse for not following proper quarantine protocol.
Edit: I feel it's worth pointing out that the company I work for actually had to implement strict protocols for COVID-19... before the government did anything at all, and our facility's protocols were stricter than what the government ended up doing. Useless ass Trump could have gotten a third of our residents killed, the stupid fucker.

I got covid like 3 weeks ago in Mexico and didn't have a phone and self isolated and pulled up duolingo (laptop) to figure out how to say what my allergies were, if I needed to get to the hospital, and what my emergency contacts were (was supposed to be there with a friend who lives there otherwise I would have studied beforehand if I knew I needed to fend for myself)

anyway yeah, self isolated. kn95s to get there. waited until I felt better and had a negative test to fly one cause the states wouldn't let me back in otherwise anyway and two was the right thing to do (could have flown to the UK technically). my friend stocked me up on food and pedialyte (I also must have gotten tap water in me based on other things happening to my body) before ditching me there. super fun.

I worked as a home health aid as well for awhile and yeah it just makes sense to do that. I was a bit flustered to be honest that my friend wanted to just ignore it and act like normal. Why I posted this to get a feel for what most people think.
