How do I vote??
Every day we'll be posting three head-to-head matches for a total of six songs. It's as simple as listening completely through both songs in a given match, then posting your vote for your favorite! So long as you complete the very important "listen completely through" you can even just vote in a few matches. We'll be posting the loop points on all the songs in the topic so you know exactly how long you have to listen for to hear all of them. Voting will be up for a full 24 hours from the second the day's topic is posted, and closes after 24 hours on the dot. Be careful!! If the topic is posted early by some amount for some reason, then voting will end the next top of the hour after 24 hours have passed.

If you anticipate being away for a few days, feel free to post advance votes either here in this thread, or send them via DM to @banshiryuu !!

When're we starting!?
Good question! Day 1 will go live at 10pm Eastern on Sunday, May 29th!! We've still got some song data to put together, so it'll be a bit over a week from the time this topic goes up. If you'd like to do predictions in the bracketmaker, those will be open for quite a bit yet and will likely close a couple days into the contest.

IMPORTANT NOTE: prime #4507 and You
This year we have a very unique case in the bracket; prime #4507 in Bracket D, which is known for being the longest piece of VGM at just over an hour of music to listen to. As you all probably know, we have a rule to listen to both songs in a given match to vote in that match, and this one isn't going to be an exception. HOWEVER, we won't require you to listen to it the day of the match.... or if it gets through Round 1, listen to it multiple times. As long as you have listened through it previously or listen to it by the time its match comes up, that's totally cool with your hosts. We recommend putting it on in the background while you're doing something for an hour some time over the next few weeks, and it'll be well and done before you know it!

iiiiiit's tiiiiime!! we have an absolutely stacked crowd this year thanks to the Great Lockening and I am beyond excited to get this show on the road and see some crazy matches!! Just like last year we had it so no one has two supports fighting each other in Round 1, and no one's original nominations are in the same quadrant of a bracket. Despite the announced absence, Tox worked some serious magic on the bracket in record time and we're both super happy with how it looks and we hope everyone else will be too~

Totally 100% guaranteed to be accurate favorites brackets completed. Bracket A is so much more stacked than the other brackets for me it's absurd. Don't Speak Her Name probably makes my favorites retirement round if its placed in any other bracket but here it's losing in r1 to a song that is itself also 2 losses away from the retirement round.

Please give us more time to fill out the our favorites brackets! Like, I'll need two weeks because I'm insanely busy (plus am going on a vacation over Memorial weekend) and need time to listen to all the music to get that done for all four brackets.

Granted, it's not like failing to complete them in time will ruin the contest for me.

I think you only need to get Bracket A done. Bracket B won't lock down until it is about to start. Same with C and D.

Also, as lefty likes to point out, you only need to *start* the predictions bracket in the system, and you can finish it later.

If everybody's doing favs brackets then there's no real reason for a deadline at all.

I'm envious of how quickly some of you can get your brackets done! I'm constantly flipping back and forth between two songs in a match, preferring whichever one I heard last >_>

Due to the way bracketmaker presumably still works I think it's fine to lock them when the first results go in. I hate being locked out of picking favourites due to the other songs advancing, and prefer to see "late prediction" when that happens so it is clear my favs HAS BEEN COMPROMISED (also since they count all the matches that are already picked as part of your point total which is still a bit bleh even just for favourites)

C3 was a crazy three-way race between Durandal, Sanctuary-RI, and Break the Limit - three very different songs that I like about the same!

I only finished predicting the first two brackets, but here goes:

A: Dreams in a Pie, Kusanagi Village, Yggdrasil, Atolm Dragon
B: Sea of Frozen Crystals, Faded Dream of a Psychomedder, Sky Tower, Breath of Forest

Bracket A had an average rating of 7.9, as opposed to 7.5 average for Bracket B. Also, B2 is stacked! Sogno di Volare, Into the Woods!, Faded Dream of a Psychomeddler, Tractatus Logico-philosophicus, THE CHASE (Special Edition), and Shudder are all 8.9+! And that's using my new harsher rating system! Not sure I'd pick Faded Dream to win it anymore... my opinions fluctuate too much.

Finished "predicting" yesterday, here's what I got:

Funny how easily DSHN made it in, only to take a beating. There were definitely other tracks I wish took its place

true i checked now and the highest loss on my end was 33 (dear dragon)

i (think i) did support fairfrozen which beat up weight of the world in a tiebreaker 37-36, and also sanctuary shu which beat up let it die outside of a tiebreaker for that much >_>

Was really just more of a general observation that the early votals this year and last put some of our contests during lefty's tenure and when I first took over to shame.

Favs brackets are done, for better or worse! I've been introduced to some really cool music I would never have found otherwise, so thanks to everyone who nominated!
