I do find it funny that the primary difference between Democrats and Republicans on the subject of violent video games is that the Democrats changed their position when presented with evidence that it wasn't true, and the Republicans were like "fuck no we want our scapegoat. Yesterday someone I work with spouted off the same garbage about video games inspire violence, etc. When I told him that there are hundreds of thousands of gamers that use Twitch and/or Discord and aren't prone to violence in the real world, he questioned how I could possibly know that. That's when I pointed out that 1) I've met dozens of them and 2)my daughter and I are both gamers (even though we don't play things like GTA). Over the years I've learned that video games, like everything else, are neither good nor bad but should be used in moderation and monitored much like using the internet. All the politicians do is make statements to inflame the situation because they want the outrage to give them power; the media aids them in their quest.

Either way you are both using whataboutism wrong. This thread is about the largest "News" Channel in the country trying to blame violence on video games for the purposes of defending white supremacy and their own bigoted opinion pieces. Bringing up ancient stuff isn't really equating that, it's well known that democrats were happily attacking music, games and just entertainment in general back in my childhood. I don't believe they were doing that for the purposes of defending white supremacy though.
