Hey these 2 months of barely any new releases have been a great time to finally start catching up again

Spent 5 hours just now trying to get into King Moggle Extreme and then it took us 35 minutes of retrying to form a plan of attack and finally kill him. Definitely the hardest boss I've had to take down so far.

Actual game progress story wise just finished the 2.1 stuff and now going THROUGH THE MAELSTROM, but besides that I've done pretty much every sidequest available to me in these patch quests

And now back to doing these relic weapon books because I want the shiny paladin sword and shield. Maybe I'll hit Heavensward before the end of the month.

I dig being able to use NPC's in the dungeons, even though they kind of suck. It was worth it to not feel rushed through the dungeons though

Do extreme fights through party finder, not duty finder. You'll find people much easier. No one queues extremes through DF and if you do you'll end up stuck waiting for... well... 5 hours!

the thing that actually bothers me about these is I was equally leveling all my jobs up to this point and now Paladin is going to shoot ahead of all of them

Yeah the convention on NA servers is that Extremes, Coils of Bahamut (but not the expansion normal raids), Savages, and Ultimates are all organized through Party Finder rather than Duty Finder. Queueing through DF will mean you will take forever and end up with a party comprised of other brand new players who don't know that convention and people from mentor roulette who were probably hoping for something easier to grind towards their mount.

I wish they removed the FATE part of the books

I've been relatively lucky in terms of FATE timings. There were only maybe 2 or 3 I had to wait longer than 30 minutes when I was reading some people were waiting 2 hours for some. I just busted out my Switch and played some Earthbound.

also oh god that dungeon I just did that felt like the first time where I was the one who knew all the mechanics, but my 3 other party members were clueless. What a unique feeling.

Made one mistake on the first miniboss and they're just making passive aggressive comments about everything I do for the rest of that dungeon

Been working on some of the level 50 fishing stuff and holy crap Feast of Famine is going to take a while.

I've decided to finally go and finish Eureka's story after Pagos burnt me out hard. Went from 21 to 28 in a single day doing challenge logs. May be a lot quicker than I anticipated, if I don't need weapon upgrades to move on between each part.

I do NOT miss doing that quest (but I absolutely made bank selling some of the end points when you could do that.)

Separate post to ask, but how do I unlock aetherial reduction? Do I have to be a specialist in the class I'm desynthing for? I was hoping to grind aethersand from a fishing trip but I don't have the option to do so anywhere, and wondering if it's because while my culinarian desynth is maxed out, my actual CUL level is only 35.

Complete the level 56 quest No Longer a Collectable by speaking to Lydirlona in Mor Dhona (x22,y6). Player must be a level 56 or higher Disciple of Land.

Took a break from the relic weapon grind today to level up the lands and hands I had been ignoring for a long time and get some of them to 50

NieR Re[in]carnation has an FFXIV collab going on right now. I doubt many people here play it so here are the story scenes to the event itself.

How timely. I just did the first of the NieR raids last night and will try to do the rest tonight and tomorrow.

And hopefully, I'll start the Endwalker MSQ soon enough! Just got the Patch 5.4 and 5.5 quests left

my 3 main classes are leveling too high for my liking before I even hit Heavensward so started played RDM as well

oh ya all the alternating

RDM is probably my favorite DPS class to play. It's fun and just complex enough to be interesting without being overwhelming.

RDM has been my main for quite a while (since I wimped out on continuing BLM for actual hard content)

It is interesting just how class dynamic shifts (or fails to) as you level up right now.

BLM roulette is more like "what's my optimal rotation" roulette and I only just hit 70 with Polyglot and Foul.

Update: 2/3 of the fish for the first stage are done, but it looks like the weather pattern for the third isn't happening anymore today so I'll have to wait until next week to try again.

Edit: And now I have the PS4 trophy for fishing 1000 times. Shame they only count fish you catch in La Noscea, Thanalan, or the Shrou, but hey, I made it to level 57 almost entirely off of that.

Not particularly rare - it'll be there tomorrow even - but my playtime is extremely weekday-heavy; I rarely if ever play on weekends.

Slowly progressing towards the end of ShB.

Called the Vauthry being the last Lightwarden part. Though that scene was highly amusing. Also love the Mt Gulg callback!

now that I've been on it for 2-3 weeks I think I can say definitively the Endwalker title screen isn't as good as the Shadowbringers title screen

I prefer it, myself. Much less jarring if my volume is messed up.

I don't have a panic attack if I get logged out for AFK while at work so Endwalker screen is better.

I did some fresh UwU this week, as Warrior. It's not as bad as it looks. Got to suppression after 4 hours. Somehow did Predation and Annihilation right the first time we got to Ultima lol Though I tank priviledged an Ifrit aftershock during Anni. It barely hurt.

I still need to do current tier Savage. Dunno why EX doesn't daunt me but Savage absolutely makes me clench.

I think I might be able to finish turning my relic into its Zodiac form by the end of this weekend

Maybe not enough time to do the final Zeta upgrade too

Not doing it today, but I guess if I want to see the coils of Bahamut content now instead of soloing it later I should make a party in the party finder and make it unrestricted and note that it's my first time through so some level 80+ can carry me through and let them get 1300 poetics out of it?

Yeah, that's the best way to get through the Coils. Keep in mind that the Coils have pretty long cutscenes at the start, end, and sometimes even in the middle of the duty. Most people willing to help out with Coils are 100% okay with waiting for the cutscenes, but there might be some peeps who aren't as patient. Just a heads up.

T9 (Second Coil, Turn 4) is... notoriously difficult, though. To the point where you're unironically probably better off KOing yourself as soon as the duty starts if you don't have at least Augmented Shire gear, due to how the mechanics in that fight work (made even harder to pull off with an undersized party). I think it might be possible to solo, but I'd recommend picking up at least another Lv. 80+ or two.

Just say in your party description that youre going to watch the cutscenes

Ive soloed T9 as a 90 DRG recently so I can confirm its doable.

Coils is weird in that you only need to complete turn 5 to do the next quetline to unlock the next tier. And then you only need to do turn 9 and finally just turn 13 to see the end of the story. That said there are a bunch of cutscenes in almost all of the fights.

What you can do is pf turn 5, 9 and 13 while skipping all cutscenes to get it out of the way, then do new game+. How it will work is you'll do the story again leads to turns 1-5. Then you can immediately accept the quest that follows but will ask you if you wanna watch all the cutscenes from turns 1-5. Says yes and so it will play all that story for you and then start the quest that leads to turns 6-9. And then the same thing will happen for the next tiers.

Alternatively, find some kind souls that will wait for you in the cutscenes of all 13 fights.

We got through turns 1-8 and one person had to leave during that and the other person couldn't beat turn 9 before they had to go

Try again tonight after I wake up and start on that one.
