Following on from yesterday, in this topic we are looking at the megas themselves. These 8 pokemon may never get true evolutions so this is all we have to work with! How many (if any) of these are better than their base form?

Kangaskhan was the only good Mega, period. And I'd much rather nuke the whole system than bring it back just for 1 Pokemon.

I also enjoy Pinsir

Mawile because it turned a mediocre Pokmon into an absolute force

but Kang did the same thing

I actually like all of these, even Audino. Went with Heracross again since the hercules beetle horn is badass. And this time I know he won't stomp.

I can see why people don't like them though, they are very busy designs and none of them are truly better than their base forms. Maybe Sableye, really diggin the huge gem.

Hot take on megas: fun mechanic, much better than Z-moves and dynamax, but the designs normally suck. It's possible to make a design too simple, but that's much better than some of these overdesigned monstrosities with bits of Duplo stuck onto them. The Gen 3 ones are okay, Kangaskhan is okay, the rest are big downgrades. Especially Aerodactyl.

Mega Mawile. I miss Mega Gardevoir too. Should just replace the final evolution with Mega Gardevoir and do the same for others/give them an evolution if they arent bringing Megas back tbh

Mega Kanga, Mega Sableye and Mega Audino are my favourites, the rest have a bit too much going on.

I agree that they should take the time (but I don't see it in their plans at all) for a giant open-ended retcon. Theyve already done some like removing excess moves. Turn some megas into evolutions. Change some of the evolution levels, Braviary is like level 55 cause of BW? Lower it to make it make sense. Fucked up not giving ice a resistance, give them one. Raise the stats of some gen 1-3 pokemon to make them more viable. Stuff like that.

tbh only the first three are good. The others are either a bit too much or look like they just threw wings quickly onto the prior form.

They really should bring Megas back because that was a great game mechanic, and not one that got abruptly stale like Z-moves or one that broke the game like Dynamax.

Well I for one like Mega Pinsir! I wish they'd changed its body a bit more but that'd be more suitable for a real evolution I guess, but the wings and pincers are cool. I also like Kangaskhan and Sableye, and Heracross is alright. The rest are too edgy/cluttered for me, like most megas tbh.

I wish they would do stuff like this! In general TPC are way too attached to keeping a continuity with this sort of stuff, but they gave new evo methods to old pokemon in gen 8 so hopefully that's the start of a trend.

Oops, I accidentally voted for Mega Sableye instead of Mega Mawile, who is far and away the best.

I think the main two changes I wanna see are evolution changes (Unova evolution levels are rancid and they really need to keep the trade evo item around. Probably won't because it may encourage people to pay for online, but still!) and some minor BST tweaks for the absolute worst mons. Stuff like Swoobat, Magcargo, Liepard, Seaking, Cherrim, Camerupt, Carnivine, Banette... They just doesn't have to suck that much, yanno?

Also I would like Water losing its Ice resistance, Bug resisting Dark and Ice resisting Ground please and thanks x

I was very annoyed when they didn't continue buffing BSTs in Gen VIII like they did in VI and VII.

Ice definitely needs a big buff, especially as they insist on forever making defensively built ice mons.
