I think a lot of gun control laws go against the spirit of the second amendment. That said, I don't believe what we have is well regulated in the slightest. Anyone should be able to own any weapon they can get their hands on, but they should need to pass a test showing basic competencey to possess the weapon, be able to prove it is being maintained and stored safely, and register the weapon so that they are responsible for damage done with the weapon. --- I am awesome and so are you. Just be responsible: Every gun that is not currently in use should be securely stored, with its ammo securely stored somewhere else. If your registered gun leaves your control for reasons beyond your control (theft being the most obvious one), that should be immediately reported to the police to mitigate any potential harm arising from it.
