Yeah, my initial thought is that I wanna try a Control-y Double Blood Rune/Single Unholy Rune deck. Though if that's too slow, a tempo Single Blood Run/Double Unholy deck looks like it'd be fun, too. I'll be honest, I just wanna get my hands on Patchwerk ASAP.

Welp it's been about a month since I reinstalled to play Battlegrounds and I think I'm done again. This meta is so awful with poison murlocs still being the best strategy in 9/10 games.

They did remove it a while ago in place of another murloc that had "avenge (4) give a murloc poison" or something but they brought it back.

Then they added ball of minions which is a better amalgam and that tier 6 minion that adapts for each of your minions but it has built in poison.

Poison would be fine as an identity for murlocs if they didn't also have the potential to scale as good as any other minion type. End game murlocs should have like 30 health max, not 80+

pretty sure toxfin is weaker than sefin

theres beatable comps, from my experience in the past mechs, leapfrogs, and deathrattle scam can beat it if done early enough.

(I havent played the game in a month feels pretty good think Im free)

Adding caps based on minion tier would be an interesting experiment at least, but I doubt most players would support something like that.

Either way I don't take it too seriously just something to play on my lunch break but it's losing my attention fast.

Ah yeah. I usually don't log out to see missing posts.

And yeah I don't think I would like that either, but scaling in BGs is much different than it used to be. It amazes me when I get a VERY early lightfang and get completely outscaled.

Yeah I made the decision to uninstall again yesterday. Battlegrounds is okay but I feel myself just using it as a way to waste time instead of actually enjoying it. I can find better ways to spend time when I'm bored.

I feel like Hearthstone would need to make every single card from past sets available after a certain point... maybe the whole previous year? Or have only the two most recent sets be the only ones that require money?

As long as the player can always make some meta decks (even if they're from the top of the competitive season), then you can always bring new players in and past players back.

I have no idea what revenue looks like for the game, but if they could reduce barrier to entry, then that would go a distance. Asking new players and returning players to make 40 card decks with however many legendaries is no bueno

I think I've played duels maybe half a dozen times since it was released, and heroic duels not once, but I decided to play a run for the free 'arena' ticket. Zero idea what's meta, no idea what any of the treasures or hero powers are so I just picked the Mage class and threw a bunch of cheap spells in there, hoping to cheese an early win with the 20HP life total in game one.

Lost my first game, figured it was 0-2 after all, and then won seven straight? Honestly not sure how it happened, I remember duels being a mode filled with stupid OP nonsense that you needed to combat with your own stupid OP nonsense, but my deck kind of sucks and it's still winning.

I'm going to be trying out triple Unholy wild Even DK.

If DK is going to do anything in wild, it's probably going to be with one of Genn/Baku, and Genn seems like the more likely one. (The Baku hero power is a 2/1, so like...basically odd mage, which isn't good in wild right now. The Genn hero power is a 1/1 obviously, but it's a lot more corpses than you'd get in a non-even deck).

I thought at first I was going to build some kind of frost deck. Frost gets access to that 2 mana flamewaker and the 0 mana lightning bloom card, as well as a 6 mana deal 10 damage which looks like a good finisher.

Buuuut...unholy 2 drops are just really compelling for an even deck, I think. A bunch of 2 drops that really want you to have a corpse that you'll rarely ever activate on turn 2 in standard, but can consistently be active in wild. A transform a minion into a 4/5 rush, which sounds very good with a 1 mana hero power (basically a 3 mana 4/5 rush). An 8/8 giant that can probably be reduced to 0 mana.

Then there comes a question of whether to go triple unholy or double unholy and something else. I think the answer is to go triple cause it gets you access to that 4 mana bloodlust that costs a bunch of corpses, but mmm...that is one card, and going double unholy 1 frost would give more than one playable card. So depends a bit how much I think I can fill out the deck with neutrals.

Anyone who thinks Hearthstone is a game of skill is just provably dumb. Even getting that matchup is absurd, then the Brawl happens.

100% factually not a game of skill and never will be.

Obviously about a month late on this one, but I'm waiting for the set to be released, so I'd like to analyze this game while I wait.

To be clear, not saying I'd play better than Ulti did here necessarily, I have not played the deck, hearthstone turns are 90 seconds and I spent way longer than that analyzing some of these turns. But I suspect there are some better plays that could have been made.

Mulligan--ovbiously Ulti didn't expect quest warrior, so I can't fault Ulti too much for keeping dragged below and abyssal wave, but...yeah, I'm guessing if he knew what deck he was up against he would have mulliganed harder for 1-2 mana cards.

Ulti's turn 4 was un-traded Wicked Shipment for 2 imps, into impending catastrophe to draw 3 cards, into grimoire of sacrifice that killed nothing (damaged two 2/3s down to 2/1s, which died a couple turns later to Abyssal Wave which would have killed them as 2/3s). Now I mean, drawing 3 off of wicked shipment looks correct--the hand isn't really doing anything else, but the Grimoire of Sacrifice definitely ended up wasted (it actually did nothing and could have been used for lethal on turn 11 to sac some Lady Darkvein tokens if kept and just not used till then).

Ulti's turn 5 used a vile library to make a 5/5 imp on the turn that Gangplank diver was guaranteed to wake up from dormant. (The opponent arguably misplayed their turn as well here, to be fair. Could have easily wasted a cannonball shot from the mini-quest reward into the 5/5 because they didn't attack with the Gangplank diver first. I've made that mistake as quest warrior loads of times lol). Not 100% sure what the correct turn 5 play for Ulti is actually--tricky turn; maybe set up Vile Library but don't use it this turn? Or maybe lifetap instead with that 2 mana? But pretty sure pumping up a target for the dormant, rush immune while attacking minion to get a free attack was...not the right play.

Turns 6-7 are flawless.

Turn 8...Brann Zaquil, I guess it's not bad, but there's Brann into double Sirakess cultist next turn for one extra curse, and I don't think Ulti's at any risk of dying from 15 life when the quest isn't even done. I'd be tempted to take board here--infused Mischevous Imp, Flustered Librarian, Dragged Below on the Cargo Guard. Give something +5/+5 from the location that I believe should still be on the board right now. This might be me being inexperienced with the deck, though--Ulti does use the Mischevous Imp later to draw cards off of Impending Catastrophe, so maybe he's waiting for that?

Turn 9 and 10 I can't find a better play. I mean, other than the world famous "tap last" (traded wicked shipment as last action on turn 10) but wasn't actually punished for that play.

Jumping forward to Ulti's turn 11--there is still a lethal out. There's a Lady Darkvein in hand, and a Grimoire of Sacrifice to kill one of the 2/1s. Now, one abyssal curse isn't enough to win here, and the previous shadow spell cast is Dragged Below, so you would need to win the 1-in-3 for the Dragged Below to hit the other 2/1. But I think that's probably worth-it. Ulti was at 11 life, facing a guaranteed 7 damage from the 7/7, and 2 damage from the hero power. In order for Ulti to live that turn the juggernaut needs to give a 1 or 0 attack weapon, and no cannonballs could go face, and no other incidental damage can happen. Those odds sound worse than 1-in-3, so might as well go for the 1-in-3 lethal.

Oh, was that order not intended? I also started on what appeared to be the second location.

Anyways the only thing I paid for was the season battle pass. used coins for the arthas set and now I'm gonna play arena for awhile until I mass a large number of packs. Gonna keep track of what my gold per pack works out to over time.

I assume it wasn't intended, if it was I'm not sure what the reason for it was. Some other people were saying dialogue didn't match the fights either but I always click-through the dialogue so I wouldn't know.

Also, too bad I missed out on the huge amount of free signature legendaries everyone else was getting, which is apparently why I can't open packs at all. Those signature cards are ugly as hell but free legendaries are free legendaries.

Apparently what happened is that standard packs were dropping too many signature cards, so they emergency patched it so that it crashes if you open standard packs (you can still open packs from the new set).

But uhh yeah, sucks for sure; I want to open my standard packs before the packs from the new expansion, that's why I saved them for over a month. So instead I'm opening nothing.

Welp, just a heads up Hearthstone Deck Tracker does NOT track secrets in Arena properly right now.

was against a paladin and according to the deck tracker the ONLY possible untested secret he could have was "if your opponent has 3 minions and plays another, destroy it"

So I have 3 minions on board and I play a 1/1 to trigger it and get it out of the way.

INSTEAD it triggers "when your opponent plays 3 cards in a turn draw 2 cards".

Which refilled his completely empty hand and flipped the board next turn when he could play THREE things instead of ONE.

Waiting for the packs to be openable only to get two legendaries in 50, and the second one was in pack 47 so I'm not even close to the pity timer.

I didn't see Denathrius once in the three games I played. Not sure how long that lasts.

The legendary that gives you a permanent spell to discover Priest spells is either complete garbage or my pack opening luck transferred into my games. Three mana discover a spell that doesn't help you at all...
