In terms of difficulty or coolness?

My favorite designs are Red Wolf and Maliketh but that's probably no surprise to anyone.

I wish magic doggo was a bit more difficult, but Maliketh is definitely no slouch, he's in my top 3 for difficulty also.

Difficulty? It's just Malenia.

elden ring beated. i think the final boss glitched out for >75% of its health and just stood there while i was wailing on it, but i'll take it. a win's a win

I need to go back to beat the invisible assassin. Hopefully it's not too difficult this time.

The space moose...I'm assuming that's the one by Siofra River?

Invisible assassin gave me a weird feeling and I'm not sure if I loved it or hated it.

Space moose is surely up there. So are Astel, the assassin in the Ranni area gaol, the gargoyles (except for the poison attack), and patches for the humor value.

Visually, Elden Beast is my favorite, even though I hated it mechanically.

Rennala phase 1 was really neat. And Radahn is great just for the spectacle.

Elphael is hell. I feel you.

In terma of boss rankings, for coolness/best boss, I might still go with Margit or Godrick tbh, who I both found quite solid, though my overall favourite would be Final Boss Phase 1. The killer music certainly helps! Pity Phase 2 was a mess or else it would have been an excellent conclusion!

Rennala is a fun fight as well for a melee character, though I'm dreading it on my current mage build. And Radahn is an impressive spectacle, and just... funny? It's an amusing and deliberarely over-the-top fight. And otherwise, as far as minor bosses are concerned, Elemer of the Briar was one I really enjoyed.

Difficulty-wise, there is Malenia, and then there is everything else.

I enjoy the fight with Rennala if only because of her arena. And sorceries look beautiful in this game so she's a visual treat to say the least. Agree that Elden Beast is the best when it comes to aesthetic design, though the fight itself is whatever.

Mechanically I think the bosses in this game are less fun than previous entries. But it's possible my taste is just kinda lame, considering my favorite boss to fight in DS3 was Champion Gundyr.

Melania is one of my favorite bosses aesthetically in the whole series, so there's that. There are a ton of really, really cool aesthetic bosses in the game, they're killing it on that front. A lot of really cool looking big monsters, though I don't tend to like those kinds of fights where you also have to fight the camera.

Mechanically it gets harder to say. Margit, and so also Morgott, phase 1 of the final boss, Radahn is a great gimmick fight, same with the commander dude in the rot swamp. Part of the equation here is that summons make fights so different than the previous gold standard of 1v1ing a guy alone in a room. A good example of this is Godfrey/Horrah Loux who is a great fight when you've got summons and taking turns alternating dogpiling him and getting rocked, but I would hate to do that fight "solo." But it's one of the coolest in the game with summons particularly if you summon Nephali, I went in with both her and the tear and it wasn't difficult but it was a great holy shit moment when he would command grab one of them into the stratosphere followed by me and the other one rushing in when he lands.

But once I did, it dropped quickly. Good summons really change the game

Revenants ended up fairly okay on my (admittedly a bit OP) bleed katana build, other than the first one I fought in Liurnia that killed me a few times. They hit hard and don't stop, but they don't have too much HP either meaning if you're aggressive enough, you can whittle them down fairly quickly.

Runebears, on the other hand... The only reason they stopped killing me is that I systematically avoided fighting them in the endgame. Omens in the sewers under Leyndell were also a pain.

And of course, dual sword Banished Knights are horrible when you can't stagger them, but that's par for the course, and there are so few of them that it's not that big a pain.

anyway, post-game thoughts. because it's great, i guess i'll start with the two things that could/should be improved for sure:

1) the inventory badly needs a "new item" section. it was more efficient for me to frantically search an item's name on google before the popup disappeared than find it in my inventory

2) i don't have the solution for this one, but the camera needs something done to it. not being able to look up is silly. boss fights against large enemies also look lame due to weird camera stuff, at least as melee

there are some things about the combat design that were just kind of subjective annoyances, but can be ignored if you're not trying to beat everything solo

a) melee attacks hitting through walls

b) melee attacks hitting through allies

c) moves that are faster than human reaction time, meaning you have to die a few times and memorize the timing

d) related- some fights being impossible to beat on the first try unless you just slam em with your mimic

e) the series still kind of depends on using the internet for helpful knowledge (where to find crucial items, etc), which i've just come to accept as an important and inextricable part of the game

f) strength + arcane isn't a build

overall, it's a damn long souls game and it checks all of the boxes i wanted. the decision to go open world was excellent and well executed. the ashes were a pre-baked difficulty setting and those are good, although i might even want to make it easier to tell which ones are good and worth upgrading. the bell bearings are a great system, although it sort of depends on the internet being able to help you out knowing where to go

the decision to explain the story a little better was awesome, although i'd be happy if they went even further. the idea that our favorite tarnished would determine the fate of the world without understanding wtf is going on- and that no one would explain it to them- is just silly. the way the story is presented feels similar to clickbait in a way

these games are designed to feel great once you have your build online or are past the initial discovery process, and it does that well

It used to be! Pre nerf mimic tear tore through everything.

Now its just really good, but wont kill bosses for you. Still worth maxing given the only summon that is definitely better is locked behind a very difficult boss fight

Beat General Radahn on my 2nd try. To be honest, I mostly just hung back and let the summons do the work.

I feel like there's supposed to be more going on in Redmane Castle but there's a bunch of doors I can't get through. The whole place seems kind of empty.

I guess I can get into Leyndell now...except I'm not exactly sure how to do that... Maybe I have to beat the Draconic Tree Sentinel? If so...yeah, he was causing me problems.

Still have a bunch of Altus and Gelmir locations to clear out, plus Raya Lucaria. Figure I should do some of those first. Oh, and I guess the Ranni stuff can continue now too. I kind of lost track of where I'm supposed to go with that.

Still haven't run across a Somber Smithing Stone [7], which is annoying me.

I am incredibly salty to learn I can only watch one ending per playthrough. I went to the trouble to have every ending locked and loaded and ready to go only to learn I have to beat the game 5 times. No chance in hell I do that especially after I did every quest line in my first playthrough.

Oh well, I choose to consider the game 100%'d, I'll just watch the other endings on youtube.

First off, Haligtree was great. I'm sure I havent explored every part of it yet. Wasn't really as impossibly tough as some people made it out to be. Yeah it was tough, but I maybe died a couple times working my way through it.
