The only good thing I can say about it is they added a scene at the end of the first episode that wasn't in the manga. Hanayamata is a beautiful show with a good soundtrack and enjoyable characters. Its been like a year so I imagine I should just start the manga from the beginning at this point. I know HiDive made a social media post recently about "updates to their content publishing system which has impacted availability of some programming" but they said that most of the shows affected would be back at some point. So I guess Hanayamata is off the table for now until it pops back up on HiDive again. With that in mind, I'm leaning towards either Lost Song or (if someone here will do a check for gore and warn me which episode/scenes might be too much for me) Talentless Nana for my short series, and either Fresh Precure or Slime Isekai for my longer one. Her design reminds me of the characters from Ojamajo Doremi or Heartcatch Precure, but I didn't see Umakoshi (the character designer for those two) in the staff list for this movie anywhere, so maybe it was just a coincidence. I've never seen the original series, but I know it's mostly liked in Japan (although in some places the adaptation changed things from the manga and some people didn't like that), and I know that the 4Kids dub it got in the US was highly polarizing but (similar to Yu-Gi-Oh's dub) not completely hated because some people thought it had a unique charm to it.
