Finally finished with the general nokron city area. Ancestrial spirit moose or whatever the hell dead, mimic tear gotten and apparently still a really damn good tank, and onwards to the siofra aquaducts and deeproot depths.

nice dude. there is a pretty difficult boss in that area the further you go in.

One thing they need to fix with a patch is the Blue Dancer Talisman. It sucks. It goes by flat amount of equip load rather than percent. so anything abovwe 10 equip load is bad as it adds literally like 2 damage, above 15 it doesn't even work. And that is even if you have 100 equip load limit. 10/40 and 10/100 gets the same effect.

Is there a red tear stone?

Was it the twin gargoyle fight? Because that one almost went south mad fast after the second one joined the party, lol. Luckily the mimic tear and D lasted just long enough for the first gargoyle to go down.

I last left off at what I am assuming is a boss door at deeproot depths so I'm gonna' see whats all going on with this.

for healing? several. two that give 50% of your health back (combined for 100), one for gradual health regen, one that turns all damage into healing, and one that gives you a burst of health instead of dying if you would have

I'm playing Vagabond, dumping into strength, vigor, and endurance. Level 29 rn.

Haven't fought Margit yet

Wearing the default vagabond armor still and just the greaves boots helmet and gloves I swiped off of soldiers lol

Dragoncrest talisman found in caelid would have been good. Provides a 10% damage reduction. Too bad the area it is located in is bugged now and instakills people (involves some platforming but is seemingly impossible to accomplish in version 1.03 due to a spot that instakills people). There are upgraded versions of it (dragoncrest +1,+2, and the dragon greatshield) but they are further into the game.

Ya them lol. I had a tough time with them my first playthrough.

That glint stone dragon was so damn satisfying.

The whole battle was grueling and when he still had a 1/3rd of his HP left I ran out of flasks AND lost Torrent. By all accounts I should have just sat down and accepted defeat.

But bah gawd I hung in there and got-fucking-gud. With zero maaaybe one hit I could withstand, I somehow kited his fire, dodge rolled his magic bolts, and avoided his stompsall on foot. And won.

holy FUCKING shit i'm FINALLY done with the BS blizzard snow place. two fucking horseback bosses at once AGAIN, plus mobs, luckily i could pull them apart and fought them one after the other instead. worth it for the dragon smithing stone

Funny enough I beat Radahn like right before the nerf. But I did it with one of the things that nerfed because I hated his stupid ass ballerina patterns and horrible visual clues, the pointless 1 minute interval in between tries because he's a billion mile away, as well as the heavily seizure inducing camera going fucking everywhere.

Honestly though the worst thing about this game truly is the combat. I don't find it fun to have dodging be the only tool for 90% of the situation, and the game doesn't really offer enough knowledge about parrying for it to be something I enjoy.

I still love everything else about this game but that Souls combat is like rightfully decades old. Crazy what people have been abused to accept over the years

Wut, MH combat is much more rigid and punishing than Souls

Yeah I played through and beat most of the contents in like 3 MHs lol. The thing about MH is that dodging is by far from your only answer to a lot of situations. I just find Elden Ring's offered solutions to be really boring to play with.

it's kind of sad that guard counters are supposed to be elden ring's big new thing. i like them, but i do agree it's odd that the whole game is basically decided by rolling, and it's just always been that way.

(My boy was helping me transfer patch's leather armor to my main character. I just made a quick throwaway alt. character and rushed to murkwater cave to ice patches real quick-like. In the short span of transfering and my friend and I killing a world boss over at atlas plateau for the hell of it we got invaded 3 times. The timer for invasions must be short or somethin').

I will say this though....neither of us lost a fight. We was fighting 1 v 1 when they came in. My friend won the first fight and I won the next two.

i should have killed patches for his shit before he disappeared forever, but oh that's right i had no way of knowing he'd disappear without haunting the fucking wiki when i first found him

I barely ever rolled. It doesn't seem worthwhile when shields consume much less stamina and require no effort

I thought patches was one of the NPCs who got an added questline in the patch?

Malenia is proof that rolling is superior to shields.

I was hoping to start Atlus Plateau but instead I ended up exploring Dragonbarrow because I hadn't been there yet. 100 percent finished Ranni's questline and for Fia I just have to beat the boss she is sitting at before finishing hers.

Dragonbarrow was cool but kind of weird. You finally get to it and there's two types of enemies on it. Dragons and bosses. There's the dragon guarding the tower, the Godskin Apostle in the tower. Done with the tower? Go a little east and you have that massive dragon boss which isn't a "real" boss battle but still.... oh look at that, a cave? Another boss battle. Gotta cross that bridge for a Night Rider boss/miniboss and the other bridge? Another dragon boss.

Edit: I forgot about crossing the bridge you have a larger enemy and then an NPC who randomly turns agro on you that you have to fight.

It just seems like a lot in a small area. None of it was particularly hard or anything but still...
I haven't even take the upper path that leads to the Erdtree yet.

I hit level 101. There's no way I'm not going to be super OP for Atlus. I haven't farmed souls for even 1 second so I'm this level just from exploring everywhere the game has me go. The people out there (not so much in this post but other places) crying that people are only beating the game because they are OP shouldn't be blaming the player. The game is designed that way.

Will keep an eye out for the Twinblade tho

Finally found my second Forked Greatsword, that took a solid couple hours. I low-key suspect they increased a lot of drop rates in the patch, not just smithing stones. Now I'll just grind some more to upgrade the swords to high enough, then I'll be doing massive bleed+freeze damage to anything that's standing still enough.

Are most bosses so easy to pop Bleed/Frost? I fought Rennala with B/F dual scythes and beat her stupid fast.

Rivers of Blood is every bit as OP as SoNaF was. I throw my sign up at Ash Leyndell and while it does pretty much the same damage on Godfrey/Elden Beast it absolutely demolished Gideon in one full L2 combo. Didn't even give him a chance to flask. RoB is definitely gonna get nerfed next patch, probably Eleonora's Poleblade too.

Is it common for Soulsborne games to get several balance patches during their lifetime? I wish they'd leave game balance alone aside from fixing bugs.

Yeah, my game has been running and in sleep mode since the patch... Im not sure I want it even for the npc update with the nerfs it has... plus the fact it makes a couple items in-accessible.

My guy is 70 int 60 faith with moonveil and sword of night and flame =/

Another point in favor of shields often forgotten: you can two hand them as well for extra stability. Plus a lot of them actually function as a bashing weapon fairly well toooffense and defense combined.

However using shields is for nerds.

i've noticed that whenever I had another consumable on top of the crimson/cerulean/physick my mimic never healed. so I made sure i didn't have any extra consumables equipped (i usually had the rot healing consumable equipped). not sure if the nerf made it even dumber than this tho since I haven't been using any ashes at all lately.

i fully upgraded the beast repellent torch. strength scaling of B, really good split fire damage and a decent chunk of physical thanks to said scaling. does over 500 damage for me with the fire scorpion charm, and you could use the axe talisman to buff its charge attacks and use its striking damage to stun things easier. basically if something thinks its armor will save it, it's fucked

oh, i forgot about this, but Flame, Grant Me Strength boosts both physical and fire damage, basically doubling its buff power for torches or other fire infused things

aaaand with using seppuku to trigger the blood exultation, it's hitting for 750 damage. toasty
