Once you hit hour 14, what could you possibly have left to say?

Is this person analyzing every millisecond of that film? Jesus Christ. It isn't that serious.

Dammit I kind of want to see what he has to say for that long. Just like randomly go into one of them and see what he could possible be talking about for at the 10 hour mark.

I once watched a bit of that guy's video response to another youtuber saying dark souls 2 was underrated. That guy literally goes sentence by sentence and points out things as trivial as figures of speech to show 'contradictions'. He is the king of hot air.

If he used humor like some other critique videos, it might be worth watching but if he is deadly serious, i dont see how you can talk about 1 movie for that long

Also, MauLer is awful. I watched part of a five billion hour Dark Souls 2 response video to a response video he did and it was like watching paint dry in slow motion while it was telling you how its opinions on paint are facts and not opinions.

I'm also pretty sure he's just in general in one of those circles of assholes on the internet who spend their time shitting on "SJWs".

Well I can appreciate long form analysis, especially from people that can really dive into film theory where the video doubles as a lecture... I'm willing to bet that a 14-hour analysis is mostly junk.

Is this one of those series that goes off-topic like 80% of the time to get into political and social topics tangentially related to the actual film, or is it actually 100% focused on the film itself?

Ok looked at a random section. Who is Kylo Ren, and while I don't watched but a few mins of it. And still don't see how he can get to 14 hours. The bit I did see was kind of well done and I hate to admit it. I was going to hit a part of it and come back and joke about it.

Eh, its something to watch while playing games or working.

listened to one around 4 years ago or so whenever TLJ came out. And yea, he repeats himself, meanders, and go over every scene meticulously.

But as I said. Its something to watch.

I've heard of this guy, apparently he nitpicks everything and spends entirely too much time describing shit as like unnecessary or contradictory or nonsensical when it's cleared up by shit that happens later in the movie. He's got a reputation for being one of those nitpicky critics who blast movies for "plot holes" when it's something any reasonable person could infer based on context clues, arguing in bad faith and having a chuddish fanbase who counter his critics with "well you just didn't watch for long enough!".

Everything I've heard about this guy makes him seem like an insufferable douchebag. And I wouldn't say it's the medium of longform video essays that's at fault, because I've watched Noah Caldwell-Gervais videos and Joseph Anderson videos and all that - opinionated, critical videos that manage to paint a robust picture of what they're talking about without being a douchebag about it. Mauler himself just sounds like a douchebag.
