But yes, wtf at new content already, small though it sounds.

I heard people talking about datamined or cut NPC questline dialogue found where in-game they just end abruptly but uh...I guess they were just broken!

Looking around Twitter and it sounds like this is stuff that was already supposed to be in at release and just needed some touching up.

Looks like they DID buff Arcane scaling which means Bleed is now even better.

Looks like Ermine beat Malenia using a bug!

But then again...

- Decreased Ash of War, Hoarfrost Stomp's damage and increase cast time.
- Increased Ash of War, Bloody Slash's self-inflict damage while slightly lowering the damage and increasing the cast time.
- Decreased weapon skill, Sword of Night and Flames damage.

...so did pretty much everyone else.

And the greatest tragedy of all:

Decreased the damage of spirit summoned when using the item Mimic Tear Ash and changed the spirits behavior pattern.

Also I laughed when they buffed basically every single notable sorcery except Comet Azur. I guess that's their way of recognizing it's OP? Could still probably use a nerf if everything else is getting nerfed to death.

At least Moonveil is still good, I think?

Though Comet Azure has very little PvP viability so I guess there's no really need.

Sword of Night and Flame also nerfed.

The only busted PvP think they seem to have missed here is the double explosion flasks with the 7k damage potential, but that just started making the rounds.

Yeah, the issue is that almost all of the sorceries suck, not that the strong ones are too strong.

I've been banging that drum this whole topic series and I'm really glad to see them address it!

As for Mimic Tear...yeah had to happen. The issue there is that it was so inarguably the best option and didn't cost a single FP. There was little to no reason to even mess around with the rest of the spirits.

Other spirits are lots of fun so I'm glad people are going to be encouraged to experiment now! I'm having a grand time switching between Turret Waifu and Greatshield Gank Squad depending on the nature of the encounter.

Also surprised that they nerfed the big two weapon arts but left Moonveil's alone. That thing is nuts but I was also like "well, hoarfrost stomp is about as good so it's probably broken on purpose." Now I'm not so sure! It's definitely better than bloody slash was pre-nerf.

I agree on Mimic Tear. I'm sad to see it go, but the game needed it to make the endgame more balanced. I guess that really means they fully expect you to use spirit summons and balanced it accordingly - makes me less annoyed with the endgame, and makes the overall game better in my view.

Other than Malenia, but hopefully she'll get nerfed in a future patch.

Another night of simply exploration progress. Last thing I did was Fringefolk Grave but didn't finish it because fuck that goddamn spinning death thing.

Before that I wandered around Liurnia a bit and found a few NPCs I hadn't met before. I could not figure out how to get to the top of the area in the south west. I assume it's something I haven't run across yet. I used one of the Imbued Keys at the 4 Shrines place and found myself back in the starting area! Poor Mr Spider Boss stood no chance. Oh, and I met the Wolf Man in the forest. ...And I went back into an early cave by dumb chance and gave the dude the needle he wanted.

This game just keeps giving me things to do!

Unfortunately I did not get around to beating Malenia yet, I was working through her area tonight, so I will eventually report back on the Mimic Tear situation.

I've seen a few people say Black Knife Tiche is better than Mimic Tear, so it's interesting that she wasn't nerfed.

Yeah, I wonder if she'll become the new go-to for that boss. She's certainly much harder to get than Mimic Tear, so it makes sense that she's strong.

The patch did mention "Other enemy and weapon balance changes." I wonder if they've included some bosses in there?

Just wild that FromSoft is so on point that basically every single instance in this game where someone has said "feels off this stopped/there's nothing here"....is addressed in this. Fight down to adding an NPC for the Jar town.

Pretty much the only common complaint here that isn't addressed in here at all is Volcano Manor quest stuff, but considering the actual dialogue around events I'm sure its working exactly as intended.

Haven't had much time since but I'm now powerstancing scythes and it's a good time.

Really appreciate how much you get in the way of upgrade materials, I have around 5 weapons now that I rotate through and they're all decently upgraded.

New Jar NPC isn't in Jartown, knew it couldn't be that easy.

North side of Jartown on the world map is still just a lie though, didn't fix that lol.

One gripe I had is that normal weapons took far too many materials to upgrade. I wonder what the rationale was behind allowing normal weapons to reach +25 in the first place.

Probably just to spread it out over the course of the much longer game

Lol I think I just stumbled upon a new bug. Discovered the rear tunnel of Gael grac3 on my newer file and it automatically added the main gael grace as well.

Super glad the game forced the patch on me when I was fighting the last 2 bosses in the game and now my build is completely unplayable.

Sure will be fun speccing and learning a new build for literally the two last bosses in the game, that'll be SUPER fun.

Oh and the added bonus of all the resources I put into the build are completely pointless, wasted and trash.

Someone tell me a cheap build that I can make and respec to so I can just beat the two last bosses. I didn't want to play all night but then the patch forced my hand and then game shut down as I was fighting the last bosses.

You could just uninstall the game and go into offline mode and play with it unpatched

I think they removed the Tear's ability to use estus? That might be the behavioral nerf. It will still drop warmth gems if you slot them but those barely heal it. It's still moderately tanky and can take one or two of Malenia's spin attacks, but that's a decent nerf to survivability. If they nerfed its damage I can barely tell.

I sure as hell can't survive a spin attack though. Gonna come back here a little later.

Kamehameha sword nerf is in the range of 15-20% less damage

So I would say that's still very usable it just won't be the instant boss killer it was before
