Do you think you have depression?

For everyone going through any hard times, here is some inspirational advice

Everyone is deserving of love and happiness. Everyone can and should seek out a loving relationship with another person.

Each and every single person whose ever made an account on GameFaqs is more than capable of becoming a devoted husband, and loving father.

Each and every single one of you, in spite of whatever turmoil you have found yourself in, are capable of becoming socially conscious, financially independent, and successful in all facets of your life.

Any thought in your head that is telling that you cannot achieve these things is not only toxic, but completely false. All of this is achievable through a concerted effort to improve upon your situation.

Dont ever give up, the juice is worth the squeeze.

No, never been a depressive person.

Worth pointing out though that "being depressed" and "having clinical depression" are not the same thing, and generic positivity/fluff advice doesn't help the latter. The latter also isn't about "not being happy with your life."

Yeah. This medicine was just barely keeping me afloat, but the real thing that got me going is some random posts of affirmations!

There are many NFTs that are used to raise awareness for depression, and those that donate their proceeds to charities that help combat depression.

Also. There have been thousands of starving artists suffering from depression whom are now living their best lives due to the financial security their NFT sales have brought them.

This
When I'm depressed, it's for an actual reason and I just kind of magically start to feel better at some point as I process my feelings. That's not how clinical depression typically works.

They get depressed often for no reason and may or may not snap out of it the way a normal person can. As a neurotypical person, the best way it was described to me is when I'm crabby. Sometimes I'm just a fucking crab ass for no discernable reason. It's like thar but if you didn't wake up fine the next morning and you were just still crabby.

This really is blown out of proportion. Any person can save an image of the internet and list it on OpenSea for a couple of bucks, but what gives an NFT actual value is the source. Whom is listing the NFT is most important.

I could go list a piece of Shepard Fairey Art on OpenSea and someone may buy it for 20 bucks because it looks cool, but if Shepard himself lists it, and publically verifies that its him listing it, then it sells for millions.

Just because anyone can list anything doesnt mean the artists are actively losing out in any income, if anything its just a case study to show them that their is demand for their work as NFTs.

So come on down to this topic and express yourself. Volunteer the nature of your shortcomings or worries so you can be given the most optimised nudge toward the gambling- I mean fulminating chaos- I mean the NFT market. It's unregulated and you're in a vulnerable, sorry way, what could go wrong?
Or if you're a depressed, starving artist, why not let those true colors loose. Let them buy mass produced garbage and suffer like you did. Fuck em.

The sig is a punchline.

Edit: I know you're trying to be supportive and encouraging, but most of the op just kind of made me feel bad again. Those aren't things someone like me can do. Its just another reminder of what my life is missing.

And you're a totally neutral onlooker who just happens to be entrenched in a dubious, greed-ridden circle that requires lots of clueless noobs to take advantage of?
I don't thinking asking other people to volunteer this information on a mixed bag of a forum like this is purely benevolent.

Not yet at least, I think your topic has an enormous red flag. Your post asks for people to come forward and announce themselves as emotionally vulnerable then right and then the sig announces you as being involved with something with a horrendous public image for a reason.
Your first response was defending them too, pointing out how they're allegedly a solution for depressed people, which didn't help.

It's like someone telling you they want to have a solemn heart to heart with you but the entire time they have that menacing Kubrick smile.

I went to a doctor for help once. They told me I wasnt depressed, just sad. A lot of stuff happened at once: job loss, mom passed away, etc.

Its normal to be sad over circumstances; not being sad would actually be concerning. Still, I needed a new job, and I was too depressed to interview for a new one.

They gave me some mood medication. It helped, and I was back on my feet fairly quickly. The one therapy session I had was helpful as well.

The only problem is that coming off the meds had some side effects unfortunately. But yea, thats when I learned the difference between normal sadness & abnormal depression.

Almost certainly. I never properly addressed emotional issues I had as a teenager that probably originated years before. That caused me to nearly drop out of college my freshman year. I then moved out and basically went into survival mode for the next four years. Very nearly had a breakdown my final semester. Got to the point that I couldn't sleep at night without medicine (all over the counter and legal, but habit-forming nonetheless) and I had horrible tremors while I was awake. Graduated with high honors in a difficult major. Couldn't find a job for nearly seven years after that. Spent that entire time being manipulated by a selfish shrew who blamed me for all of her problems. Really should have gone to therapy at some point in those seven years, but I couldn't afford it and was terrified that it would be yanked away if I asked someone else to pay for it. Almost lost my apartment and all of my belongings. Had my heart absolutely shattered, stopped eating anything but iced coffee for two months, and lost about thirty pounds. I'm extraordinarily lonely and not just in the romantic sense. A lot of my friends turned their backs on me when I opened up about the situation I had been in. One even went on a rant about how I was just lazy and spoiled during a period in my life where I felt like such a burden that I had very concrete plans.

I'm doing better now though. I have a job that's enough to pay my expenses. I'm going to therapy every two weeks. I've got my cats. Nearly thirty years old and still dealing with something that probably started before my age was even in double digits. It doesn't just go away.
