Please go see a doctor if you feel like you've "had it for a long time." Dont be afraid to get help. Forget all the stigma behind mental health. Do what is best for you.

I went to a doctor for help once. They told me I wasnt depressed, just sad. A lot of stuff happened at once: job loss, mom passed away, etc.

Its normal to be sad over circumstances; not being sad would actually be concerning. Still, I needed a new job, and I was too depressed to interview for a new one.

They gave me some mood medication. It helped, and I was back on my feet fairly quickly. The one therapy session I had was helpful as well.

The only problem is that coming off the meds had some side effects unfortunately. But yea, thats when I learned the difference between normal sadness & abnormal depression.
