How can anyone really be happy in something as gray and random as real life? Do you need what society says is good like a lot of money, sex and a decent number of real-life friends?

I'm sure those things can make life more pleasant, but you can be depressed even with all of those things. Who knows what happiness really is? I think all that matters is if you're fine and can deal with what's going on in your life.

Whats the alternative?

You learn to heal and develop healthy behaviors that allow you to come to terms with the trauma you've gone through.

Really think the core thing is finding people that will aid you in your healing, community is the best way to avoid letting suffering and trauma harden you.

Making people think their suffering happened for a reason is a tool of the oppressor.

But does getting over ones depression not make it easier to avoid future cases?

For many years now, yes.

I love my life

The most depressing thing is I will work in a minimum wage job and only have 5 GCSE thanks to my health letting me down so much. I hate the fact that it has taken me so long to solve my health problems and taken me so long to just get my GCSE thanks to it.

Imagine having sinus infection during studying or even in an exam, that isn't a good thing.

I hate the fact that many years of my life was wasted thanks to my health. As for the time I had asthma, that was a nightmare. I can remember before trying to sleep was almost impossible, since I would be coughing when I lay down and if I managed to sleep I would be woken in the middle of the night out of breath.

Normally I try to block my memory of those days, but sometimes it isn't possible to block my memory.

To make my list short from post #134, are the problems:

• I feel like I missed out in life, while everyone I know they have successful life and has done many things in their life.
• I hate that everyone I know graduated, while I still haven't even gone to University.
• My plan was to get all the qualifications required to go to University at a way younger age, but that got delayed and still delayed thanks to my awful health I had before.

I might be able to become successful and graduate, but that wont be until I am in my 40 at best. Until then I have to still study and remain in minimum wage job.

Hey dude, college doesnt mean much. I bought all that crap society peddles about higher education too when I was younger. However, then I graduated and realized that it didnt mean anything at all.

I have been working in Silicon Valley tech since late 2014 and nobody cares about my education. It never once got brought up or checked. Even when I am in charge of the hiring process it does not mean Jack to be. Experience trumps education every time.

Experience, vibe, and work ethic puts a degree to sleep brother.

Why do you want a degree so badly? What would you be doing with it if you had it?

Yea, and continuously working through and dealing with that trauma does make you stronger right? You gain skills and talents that other people dont have, correct?

Skills you can use to get a leg up in all facets of your life moving forward, eh?

This convo started when someone suggested that enduring hard times makes you a stronger person, and you claimed that it didnt.

In the country I live jobs cares a lot about degrees and qualifications, if a person lacks those things then the job wouldn't even think of trying that person out. Many decades it used to be like the country you mention, it didn't matter about qualification that much, but nowadays even the lowest jobs requires qualifications.

I want to be able to make good money, so I can afford to go on holidays and afford to buy or rent a house. With my wage I can't afford to move out from my parents house.

Every computer job requires qualifications and degree, regardless if that person works from home or in the office. I tried in the past to apply for computer jobs, but I get rejected so isn't like I haven't tried.

One of the reasons I enjoy studying is because I learn new things, but I guess the older I am getting the more impatient I am getting especially when everyone I know have great jobs.

I work and worked in computer jobs, however I am only temporary. I have seen what the jobs search for in a CV, if someone hasn't gone to University or have a degree, then their CV is as good as garbage.
People who are permanent gets better pay, more sick leaves and more holiday along with being permanent.

Everyone in the office or working from home they all gone to university.

If it wasn't for being temporary then working in a computer job would be impossible.

thats because you are applying to the wrong jobs bro

you need a portfolio. the degree is usually only only required for official corporations...and even then it can be sidestepped if you know the right people

Perhaps it depends on the industry. But Ive worked in gaming, saas, and blockchain. Its never been a problem so long as you know how to code and have the experience.

Anything that you can learn in school (in regards to coding) you can learn online. So just start learning, then start building stuff. Put together a portfolio and take an entry level job or even an internship and go from there.

You work an entry level job for 6 months, then update your resume and get hired on somewhere else at market value.
