Two separate tournaments running (almost) concurrently:

Modern:
Anything goes.

Early Archetype Rarity Lock (EARL):
Select an archetype from the list (post #2) to build around (Synchro Era & before)
Only Rare/Normal cards allowed* (any release date)
*Monster Reborn, Raigeki, Solemn Judgment are the only non-R/N cards allowed.
Extra Deck is allowed.

If interested, state which tournament you are signing up for (can play in both). Post your Master Duel code if you have not already done so in the Master Duel topic (You will need to follow everyone in order to duel them).

Okay I'll be in for both. I'll play a deck that's a little more silly/fun for the modern tourney this time.

I'll be playing my newly complete but also still missing cards Hero deck, which is both slightly worse than the deck I played last time, and also more silly/fun to play against, so not super tryhard this time.

I'm 99% likely to be playing my Monarchs again, since I'm still tweaking that a bit.

If I had more UR/SR crafting materials I would consider making the Utopia or Pendulum structures into something solid but I don't so nah.

(I'm also playing them in Rarity Lock because they're just my favorite archetype of everything, but I half expect to get rolled there with Synchros available and missing most of my best support - No Domain, Stormforth, Pantheism, Tenacity, Erebus/Ehther, etc)

Yeah, but there aren't really busted N and R extra deck monsters, I don't think. I'm playing various kinds in my archetype deck, but just summoning Zaborg is good enough to be a threat against me. In particular, stuff like reliable monster effect negation or being untargetable or unable to be destroyed by effects is really rare below SR.

I don't have a deck I can play in Modern other than Synchrons, so it'll be that. Until Dawn of Majesty cards I don't want to go crazy building any painful new decks.

The Xyz list in N/R is especially bad. There's essentially nothing of real value there.

These are true statements. I have to remember that the nostalgia tax is a thing.

Bamboozling Gossip Shadow is a pretty solid Rare XYZ. It's a unique form if Monster negation that draws you a card.

- Loser of Game 1 picks whether to go first or second. Whoever wins coin toss in-game for Game 2 picks according to what Loser of Game 1 decides.

- Coordinate a time with your opponent to play your match. You will be given a match loss if you do not respond within 90 minutes of your matchup being posted (starting Saturday 1 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific).

Hm.

I may not be available until 2ish pm Eastern on Saturday (I alluded to this when I said I wouldn't be hard available all day). There's a chance I can play a set earlier in the morning, though, maybe around 9:30am Eastern? We'll see what things look like

I can play today starting around 6pm Eastern, though 9pm Pacific is way too late for me to be awake so that'll only be if Mike/Tangy can get a head start on things.

I played a couple ranked games today

One of them, I stalled out a 5-mat Rhongo (Ft Utopic Future later on) to win. Another, I won without playing Domain (After my Tenacity was Ash'd grumble grumble) thanks to Majesty's Fiend basically entirely locking them out on its own

Feels kinda good going into a tournament...!
