Finally finished the next video in my retrospective series, and man it seems mega relevant now that the Wii U and DS shops are biting the dust, considering I recorded this whole thing on the Wii U.

OH SHIT! I was literally thinking just the other day "what happened to that bandana guy who reviewed the Metroid games?"

I think I had the same "yeah, no" reaction to the Hunters demo back in the day, so I never played the full game. This was a fun look at it, so thanks!

Yeahhhh multiplayer was absolutely the *cough*... prime focus of this game and I realllllly got into that and I've always *desperately* wished a Prime game could do multiplayer like that again.... except y'know, on a console with proper internet capabilities and controls

It was really cool having all the different hunters with their largely unique abilities, ofc your cloaked sniper with Trace (loved), Spire climbing walls, Weavel spitting himself in half into a turret+slasher combo.

Sylux had this wild thing in low-gravity arenas that his version of morph-ball had bomb jumps he could use infinitely to fly around in space

Life has thrown a ton on my plate, especially everything to do with TQ. So I figured in order to get out more stuff I need to just pump these out one at a time. This one took way too long to get done.

Man this really makes me feel like I missed the boat big time. Maybe in a post pandemic world at a Con or something I can potentially play this with real people on actual hardware.

That was likely the only game that I ever bought purely due to internet hype when I wasn't really interested in it myself. It was so popular in all my circles that I wanted to join in and play it. I don't play FPSes so it was really hard for me and I never really improved my skill in the several months that I played it. However, what I recognized was a really good multiplayer mode, even if I didn't personally enjoy it. I remember there being a lot of settings, good character selection, and a decent amount of maps. The game really would have flourished if it were on a proper console. As far as I know none of the other Metroid Primes had multiplayer that was anything like this one.

Prime 2 had a multiplayer... but it very much felt like a total novelty

although I did actually do a lot of it lol, so much Race For The Annihilator Beam

If the rumor of a Prime Remake/Collection are true, this would be a great pack in bonus to have the Hunters Multiplayer on the Switch.

Just wanted to quote this word for word because yesss GMUN. I fell in love with the multiplayer and it was my first real online multiplayer experience. So weird that Nintendo's online actually had voice chat back then (and 15+ years later they refuse to do it). God that game was so much fun and a true console experience in that style could be amazing.

Whoa it had Voice Chat?! That's kind of mind blowing honestly.

Sylux was always the most busted alt form because it was so fast and so easy to do the triangle bombs around someone which was an autokill

I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't just make voice chat a parental control feature.

I played this game for about 10 minutes on a friend of mine's DS back in middle school, on the bus ride home in 2007.

Wasn't really impressed.
