Love when that happens, and you just gain a deeper appreciation for the music. I'm listening to Dissociation by The Dillinger Escape Plan nonstop, and it's so fucking good. I enjoyed it a lot when it came out, but these songs are just such a journey...such bizarre technical parts as per usual, but tons of catchy repeated vocals...also a handful more proggy jazz interludes than usual. Probably one of my favourite albums of all time at this point.

If heavy isn't your thing, avoid. Very abrasive (with melodic parts).

"The Heat Death of the Universe" by Off-Minor.

This is screamo at it's finest, and one of the reasons everybody who likes harder music should give the genre a chance. It's got some nice elements of hardcore, but the slow it down in some songs...'This is a Hostage Situation" has a haunting end section, "Punch for Punch" is an instrumental triumph, "Monday Morning Quarterbacks" begins with a menacing yet groovy rhythm.

It's got 9 songs and it's 22 minutes long but there is a lot of stuff packed into it.

The recent Get Back documentary opened a whole can of worms for me; most recently the White Album.

Did you know that Eric Clapton plays guitar on While My Guitar Gently Weeps and John plays bass?

Mind = Blown

Not so much an album per se, but I've started listening to a lot of older Depeche Mode songs again recently, after having not really listened to anything from them since like 2009 or so.

Ehm... listened to SoaD's Toxicity the other day. Does that count?

I usually get stuck on a song or songs rather than albums.

Not to mention, looking at some of the topics and posts on the music board, I can't imagine ever wanting to discuss anything with those people - music least of all.

From what I can see, most of their opinions border on atrocity. And even the least terrible still look pretty bad.

For all that I hate pretty much everyone on PotD these days, I'd still rather talk about music or movies or video games or even politics with you guys before I'd ever wade into the open cesspools that are the dedicated topic boards. Nothing worthwhile can ever come of anything there.

I'll revisit albums I listened to when I was in highschool. I remember there was a study mentioning how your music tastes in your school years influences your music tastes later down in life. That phenomenon definitely applies to me

DEP is awesome! For me it was probably October Tide's first album Rain Without End. I forgot what a masterpiece of death-doom it was and how much it eclipses every other album they did. Better than Katatonia's death-doom output even(two of the members were from that band).

I listened to Primus' sailing the seas of cheese for first time in over a decade recently. Never understood it initially. Thought it was a little too weird and preferred the tempo of frizzle fry.

Now it seems like a pinnacle of a 90s music, a psychedelic record reflecting the surreal cynicism of America's youth. Highly recommend to anyone interested in prog, metal, hard rock, or grunge.

Some portions of Get Back (the documentary) make more sense now, as John kept going on about how they couldn't get Clapton, and how great he was.
