PowerOne is my favorite VGM. I adore songs that feature strong percussion, industrial noises, and gradual melodic progression. PowerOne has those in spades. That crackling noise every eight bars always sends a chill up my spine. Its an unconventional song in a lot of ways there isnt a strong melody, its very atmospheric, and its a little repetitive. But I love all of those things! In five minutes and 43 seconds, PowerOne opens up this entire immersive world in a way few songs ever do for me.

PowerOne got into six of the first seven VGMCs, and only managed to make it to round 3 once. Its last appearance was in VGMC7, nine years ago. Im planning on bending my soft no returner policy (which I already did last year anyway), because um its my favorite VGM, why wouldnt I???

PowerOne has the distinction of starting the list as a mere 9/10. Relistening to it in one of the SupraDarky server contests helped me appreciate it even more, to the point where it zoomed up the spreadsheet, where it now sits at the number 1 spot. Yet glory is fickle on a VGM spreadsheet. Next time I make a topic like this (next VGMC maybe?), maybe it wont be the top dog anymore. But for now, I love it to pieces, and thats all that matters.

Thanks for sharing your music, rwlh. I've known about Electric Power Plant for a long time, but I never actually listened to it until a couple of days ago. I like it.

Finally listened to the rest of these, better late than never. Lots of cool new discoveries for me. Thanks for doing this topic!

Some standout favs that I'd never heard before: 'Fate', 'The Synapse', 'Rockface Rumble', 'ne-something3.ogg' (catchy title), and 'Scroll Stage'. I'd also like to thank you for making me aware that there is an entire David Wise OST I'd never heard before, somehow locked away on the GBA. Oddly enough the track I've had on repeat the most is the Intro to Xenon 2. That one is a real banger!

But most importantly: what the fuck is Doshin. Do I like it? I don't know. Do I dislike it? I don't think so. Is it good? No idea. Does it instill in me a deep sense of unease? Yes. Even the youtube description is ominous: 'seemingly plays whenever it feels like'. What does that mean, Doshin! What are you! I wonder if this is what the Yoshi's New Island OST was attempting to emulate.
