On the subject of Musk, there's this - he fulfills the criteria you laid out. I don't know why people like junk_funk and mnkboy have the audacity to think they can declare what other peoples' intentions are, but it's quite rude of them.

If there's an existential issue with Musk making the top 20 of this contest, then that means he wouldn't be allowed anyway. If not? Then he could climb up. But there's no chance of him actually winning unless multiple people get on-board. And if enough people get on-board for him to win, then by definition, he deserves it.

Best Musk case scenario? Lower participants and he goes out barely hitting top 5. Is that really worth an exclusion?

Yeah, he meets the criteria, so if that's all it takes, that's valid. But realistically, people aren't nominating him because of his two lines in Iron Man 2 or whatever made him their favorite MCU character. I would also argue that Actor Loki should be included as he has dialogue and he is also slated to appear in Thor 4.

He has to be a named character and has at least a single line. I'm unsure if any of them are. He was called Larry King in Iron Man 2, but didn't have a speaking line. I think the same in Iron Man 1 with Hugh Heffner.

There's a chance in one of these appearances as a janitor or whatnot that he had a nametag - in that situation, it might fulfill the criteria, but I think in most cameos, he's credited as himself and not a named character, or (un)credited as his job.

For example, in his Ragnarok appearance, he is uncredited but his role is "Barber", so it wouldn't count.

Suprak specifically said he didn't want to police noms on case of obscurity, and y'all are bullying him into doing something he said he didn't want to worry about.

This version of Musk is different from the irl version on basis of interaction with Pepper and Tony. It is, by definition, an MCU version of the real person - not just a reference and/or cameo (as is the case with say, David Hasselhoff).

If you don't want him in the contest, just save other things over him in the end.

revisionist history much? I was arguing for Stamp in favor of assisting a friend, and lefty refused to actually communicate a single time to the people in favor. He didn't communicate once. Even when rules were broken by other people and not adhered to. It was a clear-cut case of exceptional treatment, and despite it all, I still participated in the contest. Despite being slandered by people because I didn't want to save yuna or whatever instead.

Suprak will make his decision, and when he does, I have other things to nom and other things to save. I'm not the one saying that his inclusion will make me have no interest in the topic. I just think it's unfair for there to be crowd-sourced policing of fun when there's a built-in way in the contest to remove a character. I also like arguing the logic of stuff like this and there hasn't been any mafia for awhile.

That I disagree with. Ktjn didn't garner any additional support throughout the contest. She was as strong entering as she was exiting.

Meanwhile, the amount of people who nom'd Stamp was double what nom'd Ktjn. I think he had very real power. Not necessarily enough to beat Kefka, especially when people would rally against him, but I think he'd have been stronger than Ktjn.

in a lot of credits hes listed as Stan Lee or Stan the Man but thats probably not enough is it

I was reading through the nominations just now like "I've made a horrible mistake".

BUT GUESS WHAT FOLKS

We're going to recover from this and everyone is going to play nice and have fun. That's new rule one of this contest. Here.

1. Have fun.

There we go. It is written in stone. Whatever fun means to you, you are now ordered to have it. MCU is such a great rich universe with so many characters I really think no matter who is on the final list you're going to like 80%+ of the characters anyway.

Ok couple of questions were brought up:

Oh duh I should've made this clear. If you just nominate "Spider Man" with no distinction, I'll assume you are nominating "main line" Spider Man. Same thing goes for every other hero but I know it is even more complicated for Spider Man. But Dr. Strange is not the "What If...?" Dr. Strange but standard Dr. Strange. Same thing for Spider Man, so if you don't put any distinction on it I'll just assume it is for Tom Holland.

Oh duh yeah. Helmut Zemo. I don't know how I typo'd that because I thought I was just copy and pasting everything but oops. I'll correct it on the next update!

Now on for specific character decisions which I was very clear about NOT wanting to have to do but there's been a ton of discussion in here (and PMs) so I feel like I need to go through characters that were brought up.

1) Elon Musk - I do understand both sides of the argument here. He is a named character and even if people bring in outside feelings towards the character, I kind of feel like they're doing that anyway with everyone else? Like this is Save My MCU character but I know a lot of people saving Spider Man aren't going to be just saving him for stuff he did in the MCU. BUT at the same time though Elon Musk isn't so much a character as he is just him in the MCU. He's not a Marvel or MCU creation. And it isn't like Marvel could do whatever they wanted with him like they could with other characters. If they reprise Musk under a different actor as a villain that sells shitty overpriced cars to people, they'd get sued for deformation of character. And, like it or not, Musk is a political figure and I really just don't want any sort of political discussion in my stupid save my contest. Plus I've had multiple people tell me his inclusion would bother them and I'd rather not be annoying people in a contest about who wears the coolest skin tight unitard. So ELON MUSK IS A NO. Sorry. I see Han was already nice enough to switch his nom, so I'm hoping the rest of his crew can do the same.

2) Actor Loki - This one is "technically" against the rules as I put forth. I said they had to be a named character, but I suppose I wasn't clear enough there. I meant they had to have an actual name. Not just be "man on street" or whatever, which is what Actor Loki is (unless he has the very unfortunate coincidence of having the first name of Actor and the last name of Loki). But unlike Elon Musk, I still feel like Actor Loki is a celebration of the MCU. It's a great scene in a great film and it adds to the film. I dunno. To me ACTOR LOKI IS A YES despite breaking my rules. I just didn't want some stupid guy on the sidewalk that screams one time being one of the characters and I feel like Actor Loki is way above that. Feel free to let me know if you disagree as I'm not 100% sure on this one as it technically goes against my rules .

3) Alligator Loki - My gut reaction to this one was an obvious "no" because he doesn't have any lines. But redrocket makes a good point that he is clearly speaking and that the other Lokis understand him. He grunts and Classic Loki responds as "there's no such thing as an alligator tank - he's overly sensitive". Or when he grunts and Loki says "see - he's on board" and Classic Loki goes "he's praying. He thinks we're going to die." Like, he has dialogue even if we don't fully understand it. So I'm going to say ALLIGATOR LOKI IS A YES. (Ok full disclosure - Loki is far and away my favorite MCU show and all the characters are incredible and yes one of my favorites was Alligator Loki. So maybe I'm biased on this one and being dumb but I feel like this isn't even really that much of a joke nom because I love Alligator Loki.)

4) Deadpool - I've had multiple questions about this so I know Deadpool could do well. And he isn't a joke character or anything. And I did read the articles about how MCU Deadpool is going to be a continuation of the Deadpool we already know and love. But I don't think he's in the MCU yet. The first two films aren't listed as MCU films on Wikipedia and I don't know who considers them part of the universe. So even though Deadpool will be in the MCU and we know what his character would be, I'm hesitant to put him in until after those films are actually released. So sorry. DEADPOOL IS A NO.

5) Stan Lee - The nomination VI fits all the requirements and isn't really even up for debate. What I haven't decided yet is if I should allow that in, or if I should just allow "Stan Lee" and include all his cameos under that heading. Yes I know that breaks my rules but I feel like Stan Lee is a special exception and deserves to be able to break that rule. I don't think anyone would be mad about that, either? But I guess I'm unsure. So STAN LEE IS UNDECIDED. Probably would want more feedback from the peanut gallery on this one.

So there's my thinking on everything, at least. I do want people to have fun with this, whatever that means. So if you want to take it serious and push all your legitimate favorites, I'm 100% on board. But if there is some silly side character that you love for whatever reason, that's fine too. I look forward to everyone participating and I hope no one drops out because of my decisions either way. Just try to be cool and not do weird things to make people mad or lash out at others because they don't want to do things the same way you do.
