Yeah I noticed that but there isnt anything I can do with it. Is the middle level supposed to be something? The hedge blocks the ability to change the level

Says a lot about the quality of the games that almost everyone is hyping up a different one.

I'll do five:

Terraria - I know you said you didn't get it, but you should find a friend who hasn't played it either and go in again. It's an incredible experience, just an unparalleled sandbox.

Hotline Miami - The music, mood, and intensity of this game man. Go in as blind as you can, and enjoy a fun "puzzle" shooter. Puzzle in the sense that you can't just go in guns blazing, just trust me.

Cuphead - I'm so terrible at this that I never finished it, but it's still worth experiencing. Sometimes you just want to look at the awesome animation, but then it's gonna kill you.

Subnautica - If you have any fear of deep water at all, this will be the most terrifying and thrilling game you'll ever play. No game has ever given me as strong of anxiety. Overcoming it is exhilarating, and there's an interesting mystery to investigate, but I'm too weenie hut jr to go below the 300 M depth mark to find it.

Stardew Valley - My wife has played literally 1000 hours of this, and if you like Harvest Moon-likes, this is the epitome of that. The amount of content is absurd.

oh yeah terraria is an all-timer

Now Shovel Knight is running away with it.

My Secret Santa got me Bloodstained and a friend bought Baba Is You, though.

All right, these overworld puzzles are apparently the bane of my existence. How the hell do I do anything in ??? I beat 1-12, 1 dot. 2 dot, and ABC

Only thing left here is 3 dot and 4 dot and I have already looked at those way too long and can't figure them out

Shovel Knight is good but I don't really regard it as unmissable, just a solid platformer

For me it was the whole package of essentially 4 different games that makes it unbeatable. The base Shovel Knight game is, as you said, solid but nothing truly amazing.

I think the thing that really makes Shovel Knight for me (beyond the solid gameplay) is that the graphics/music are extremely charming. They just give me a warm and fuzzy feeling of nostalgia despite them being newish games.

Did you play all the campaigns? I understand this viewpoint more for the original release, but as Sean says the full package now is pretty ridiculous. Specter > King > Shovel > Plague imo, and King's campaign has a proper (and fun) card game in it too!

And yep, great music.

Hijacking this topic for myself for a sec (sorry!), I don't think anybody has spoken specifically about Into the Breach. I know it got good reviews, but what do people here think? Is it fun? How's the difficulty/length?

Yeah I think I agree with exactly that ranking! Playing through the extra campaigns greatly enhances the experience.

I'm a big fan. It's very short, but intended to be replayed. Most people say it's hard at first, but it definitely gets easier the more you master it.

I think I am the only huge Mega Man fan who was very underwhelmed by Shovel Knight.
Also by contrast, I found Bloodstained to be completely awesome.

I was basically the opposite. I found Bloodstained to be extremely underwhelming to the point that I ended up dropping it (thankfully I didn't buy it outright as I tried it via Game Pass a few years back) and thought Shovel Knight was great. I do want to admit something a little shameful, but Shovel Knight was the very first game that I backed on Kickstarter, and I went through it in like 2015, but I have yet to get around to playing any of the post-launch campaigns.

Into the Breach is a good game - I ranked it somewhere in the 40's of my game of the decade list I think - but it's easier and has less replayability than I would have liked. I got about 60 hours of life out of it or so, managed to get the maximum score possible in the game, beat it with every squad and feel like I've topped out a bit at that point.

Most of those are really good. HLD, shovel Knight are at the top

Picked up Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Whoa there is too much going on here. I think the game would be better without equipment and side quests and half these magic attacks

Those RPG aspects are one of the main reasons I like the game so much, heh. I love how complicated it is.

There's definitely way too much going on, which is why I'm just ignoring a huge chunk of them and focusing on what I'm comfortable with. I'll experiment if I go back for a second playthrough.

Hell nah, I love the kitchen sink approach they took.

I bought Into the Breach on sale the other day along with Golf Story and Overboard!, I look forward to playing them!
