There is potholes, but I enjoyed it. Probably moreso to see my past movies on screen again. Idk how a younger generation would feel though. Some of the movie seemed pointless, but that's okay. Wasn't the infinity war/endgame level movie everyone hyped it to be though.

Sure... but if it wasn't an MCU movie and the last two weren't either... It's as close to that as a Spiderman movie could really get. It was the Spiderman only version of ending an era to setup another. It wrapped up 20 years of Spiderman movies pretty well, far better than Sony could have ever done on their own.

Now I want the Wet Bandits to be the ones to actually defeat Spiderman

Maybe he doesn't realize their weakness is marbles and icy stairs and heated doorknobs, and it turns out his webs and flippy kicks have no effect.

I feel like this was the quintessential marvel movie.

The script was great, the acting was great, it was extremely enjoyable.

And for some reason I have no desire to actually recommend it to anyone. It was probably one of the best pure super hero movies I have ever seen (as opposed to Shang chi which is a super-martial arts, SM homecoming which is a super-coming of age etc)

Which is great.. but at the end of the day really doesnt differentiate itself from the 100 other good super hero movies.

The one thing I wanted to see in cinema growing up was a Bloodsport-type martial arts movie that had all the big names like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, an older Chuck Norris, JCVD, etc. No, not the Expendables. A badass martial arts tournament.

This movie basically made me feel how I think I would feel if that actually happened.

TBH when I watched Homecoming and Guardians 2 I just wound up tuning out the whole time. I'd need to re-watch both films to gauge my opinion on them better, but I'm more interested in re-visiting the latter due to Kurt Russell's presence and how many have spoken of the movie as one of the most underrated MCU installments as time passes.

What do people think about where Peter is at the end of the movie?

I was thinking about what defines this Peter from the previous ones, and the easy answer was his relationships. Tony and Ned, primarily, though Happy and May were big too. Even Strange had an avenue to replace Tony, given the twos adventures in Infinity War and this movie.

But now he has nothing. Not even a cool suit.. So what defines him anymore?

I think that's important to tackle if there is a next movie honestly. I'm cool with that being open ended here

What defines him is that he gave all that up to save the world, and then chose not to reinsert himself into people's lives. I don't think that sticks though, but then you at least can do a story about him rebuilding that life. I guess my cynical take is that part is open ended just in case he gets ejected from the MCU again.

Still, I like where he ended up. I agree with the take that this feels like a really weird origin story and feel like it is a good thing he is being made more like other Peter Parkers. His reliance on Tony Stark and other established heroes was stifling the character, and not having the "with great power" speech internalized yet was another defining aspect of the character that I don't think was necessarily a good or fun choice. You can really see this in Far From Home which relies entirely on those two things and is Not Good as a Spider-Man movie.

Time will tell if they have ideas that work out with this set-up. It seems really lazy, but if the plot element is required, then maybe it'll turn out for the better.

At the very least, he'll probably start working for the Daily Bugle now that his identity is a secret again. I just wonder what villain they go with next.

They can also cross him over with the Fantastic Four once they debut since he's close with them in the comics.

I'm hoping we see Michael Mando back as Scorpion in the next one that then leads into him eventually getting the symbiote.

I don't really need another Eddie Brock so just skipping to Mac Gargan Venom is fine with me, plus I think Mando would kill it.

Considering this film tried to be about consequence, I could see them going the Ned Hobgoblin angle as a consequence of him abandoning his friend, but it also seems unlikely they'll continue to punish Peter when he's already lost everything, even though he deserves it.

Oh another thing they could (and should) do is bring Miles in. The PS4 games have done something similar but there's more room to explore that kind of dynamic. They have been teasing Miles a bit (first with Donald Glover in Homecoming, then with Jaime Foxx's joke in NWH) so it's not out of the question.

This would also be a cool way to use Venom. Act 1 is Peter discovering another Spider-Man and tracking him down, Act 2 is them bonding and Peter mentoring Miles as they team up to take down a villain, Act 3 is Peter gets possessed by the symbiote and Miles has to prove himself on his own.

I mean Ned can be a stand-in for Harry Osborn, and the character consistently suffers because of the dichotomy between being Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so him feeling guilt over Ned going down that path because of what he did would fall in line with that.

Honestly the hardest part of doing Miles would be convincing Donald Glover to leave his cave to reprise his role. Disney's got the money if he'll still accept it.

Daily Bugle, black suit, Scorpion and Mac Gargon Venom are all good bets for the next film (or the one after). I could see them introducing some more 'animal' characters like Black Cat and Rhino too before doing Kraven. Good excuse to bring back Vulture too.

As for Miles, I can see Phase 3 ending with some kind of minor multiverse collapse/merge as an excuse to bring in a bunch of chataracters like Deadpool (and his supporting cast, possibly the rest of the X-Men), Venom and Miles. Spider-Verse and Marvel's Spider-Man are both still fresh enough that we don't need to cover his origin story again, so we get to skip to him dealing with being Spider-Man in a world that already has a Spider-Man.

Finally watched this, it was fantastic. Definitely one of my favourite MCU movies.

I tried to stay away from discussions or rumours but the Tobey and Andrew Garfield rumours were way too strong, so I hoped, but I tried not to get it explicitly confirmed for me until I watched the movie. Was so psyched when I saw it happened. So many wonderful callbacks and moments.

I always thought that Andrew Garfield's Spiderman was the best iteration so I was really glad to see him come back and just be funny and amazing. His moment when he caught MJ was so great as well.

I didn't expect Daredevil or Venom to make cameos in this so those caught my by surprise. I really should get around to watching Venom 2.

Since No Way Home was in many ways the MCU's take on One More Day, I wouldn't be surprised too see elements of Brand New Day in the next movie. Like maybe Peter starts volunteering at the FEAST Center to try and still feel connected to Aunt May, by being around the people she worked with. And maybe now that she's gone Martin Li is in charge. I don't know if we'd get Mister Negative as the villain or if this would just be like Curt Connors in Spider-Man 2 and 3.

Given recent reappearances, a story involving Daredevil and Kingpin could happen too, possibly with Punisher also appearing.

And I think we'll get a black suit/Scorpion/Mac Gargan Venom story soon, but maybe not until the one after next.
