You know... that game where you get locked in a room.
And have to solve a series of puzzles to escape before the time runs out.

I tried my first Escape Room recently.
It was Final Fantasy VII themed. Very fun!
Although, I really... really... sucked at it.

I like them in concept, but they are so restrictive. They need to be more extreme.

Like... the Escape Room movie? That was a bit... extreme. >_>

I've done 3 of them

2 of them we lost on the final clue and one of them we won

They're pretty good

Also something that gets easier the more you do them because you begin to know what to look for

I really like them and have done quite a few.

I think there was only one I really hated, but that's because when you reach the final puzzle. No matter how much time you have left they cut it down to like 3 minutes and if you don't solve it in that time you lose.

I have done 2, failed the first one on the last clue. Because the answer was in a paragraph on a sheet of paper, that you find near the start. And is not highlighted or defined in any specific thing to draw attention.

Second one we breezed through pretty easily but was still very fun

Yeah, they're great. I think I've done like five or six and escaped all of them? I haven't done any since maybe a year or two before the pandemic started, though.

I highly recommend the ones at the Palace of Fine Arts in SF; those are a lot more creative than standard escape rooms.

Yes but they always seem expensive for what they are.

Actually come to think of it I think I failed to escape one that was kind of a fake escape room (it had escape-room style puzzles, but you just sat at a table with several other groups in the same room simultaneously).

Where did you find an ff7 themed escape room? I want to go there

In Tokyo. It was based on the very first Bombing Mission on Mako Reactor 1.

Went to 2. They were nice. I felt like one of them was pretty tough and I sucked at it.
Would have went for more but I feel like they are too expensive for my taste ($40 per person)

It'd be a bit unfair on any poor bloke who is doing it all on their own.

They're pretty good but probably better with a group.

Tried it twice, once with a group of friends, themed as an opera house and we made it out.

Second time was with @NioraptH and it was hell themed. Spoopy but we didn't make it outta there. ;_;

I've only ever done one, went with a big group of friends, but we all had a great time and successfully escaped. I'd definitely love to try more of them.

I never tried one but I really would like to. I always liked the puzzle rooms in games like Zero Escape and it seemed like the same kind of idea.

my wife and I did one with Sir Chris and we had a blast.

Does Zero Escape count?

I've done two, and they were both a lot of fun. Might try to do another one next year.

They were a great time pre-COVID, I hope to try another in 2030.

The IRL ones are so formal which makes them less enjoyable, but I love the concept and played a ton of the flash ones back in the day

That's pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing that! I enjoy Final Fantasy and Escape Rooms, so this would be a pretty great experience. I would love to visit Tokyo at some point, but I don't know Japanese, so that would definitely present a challenge. Still a great concept though.
