Well, of course not. When a tornado warning comes through, you stay where you are. Being in a car is much more dangerous than being in a building.
Yah. Its heartbreaking that people lost their life but you I cant imagine theyd be able to let people leave in conditions like that.

If you think Amazon didnt have a plan in place for this you're wrong. They came up with it before the warehouse even opened. A team of lawyers came up with what they felt would be the best direction for Amazon to give employees to avoid any form of lawsuit or monetary loss.

You think they drilled on this? You think they did more than maybe put a poster in/near the break room and sent periodic e-mails to management?
You really think Amazon gives a damn or that they'll see anything approaching real consequences for people dying because of them?

Let me tell you about the two times a tornado warning happened in my area while I was in my car. Oddly enough, both times I was on my way to vote in a presidential primary. The sirens go off, the radio and your phone start blaring the emergency signal. I got the fuck away from my car and took shelter in the nearest building. First time it was a library, second time it was a church pre-school. I was lucky that I was so close to buildings that werent locked. Because I was going in one way or another.

Theres no time to leave. Thats the worst thing to do. For crying out loud, the general rule is to get out of your car even if youre just jumping down into a shallow ditch. A shallow ditch in the open is better than being in your car. You cant outrun it. You cant even see. You could be driving right towards it and not even know.

This was all unavoidable. It doesnt make it any less tragic.

Its impossible to know the details of this just from the texts. For example, did Amazon advise them to stay or literally force them to remain in the building, Where was the tornado during all this time? And as people have been saying, running during a tornado is a bad idea and Amazon may have been legally at fault or at least blamed anyway if their employees ran and were killed or injured.

This is great outrage bait tho

This. As much as I want Amazon to pay basic tornado procedure was taught to stay where you are and hide in as small of a room as possible. The guy was not gonna outrun a tornado unless he was already actively moving in the opposite direction.

But from what I understand from that article, it seems like Amazon told them to keep working and disregard the warning initially, in which case the outrage is valid.

Either way, Im sure Amazon has the warehouse itself outsourced to a contractor that outsourced it to another contractor, so unfortunately I doubt theyll actually face any consequences.

Except this is stupid because they stayed in the building and died anyway. Being away from a tornado is a lot better than being near a tornado.

Which is a fucking stupid remark that also suggests they'd magically know the tornado would or wouldn't hit, and the fact it hit the facility means they'd likely be caught driving out.

Tornadoes have a bizarre set of circumstances that they need. Water, a bunch of dry land, the back side of mountains, more dry land, and then more water on the far side.
Deserts tend to be too early in the mix.

You need dry cold winds, then wet hot winds running into that. Basically North America.

If you have enough warning and can read a fucking weather radar and recognize a tornado vortex signature on it and know the surrounding roads extremely well, know what directions are north and south, you can probably drive away. But the odds of a typical Amazon worker or GameFaqs poster accomplishing this safely are practically zero. Based on the posts in this topic, most people dont know shit about tornadoes.
