Ehhh I don't count difficulties in that. I've only completed 1 extreme synched and that was on accident.

Went in with 6 newbies yesterday in Zodiark and almost cleared in one instance timer. Went in today in a clear group and beat it in 3 pulls, then killed him 4 more times with no wipes.

The first batch of extreme trials of an expansion are pretty much always very puggable. Same for Savage 1 and 2.

Bozja has the unfortunate quality of being a miserable, muddy field you fight stuff in

The design is solid, it just isn't very appealing to engage with

I've been spinning my wheels since doing the available extremes and raids. I'm even going so far as to level the various gathering and crafting jobs. It's more of a time/Gil sink than anything I've does as a dow/Dom, but I *think* it's probably better money per hour at max level than doing roulettes

roulettes are not good money/hour. Hell just spamming fates is better money/hour.

Leveling gathering can be basically free if you do it right (ie grind collectables) with the only real expenses being gearing and the opportunity cost of spending company seals on cordials instead of whatever else you'd buy to make gil. You don't really have the option of going hard on gathering gear until max level anyways.

Crafting however is yeah, a big gil sink. You can make money with it while leveling but you have to be pretty smart and expend a lot of effort on "market research". At max level it's pretty easy to set up small but steady income with it but for making big bank it's always gonna require some work.

Both are still gonna be better than doing fates and maps on combat jobs. Although fates can be pretty good value sometimes. And gathering makes maps pure profit since you can get them yourself.

That said if you are up to Endwalker leveling them, you get 120 free Hi-Cordials from the Studium for their gathering quests.

I have like 1200 hi-cordials since there was nothing else worth spending gathering scrips on at the end of ShB

Honestly I made gil leveling crafting(All from 0) just by using scraps from excess to put a few things on the market board.

I love that I'm getting Endsinger Trial roulette every day in principle...if I wasnt trying to get it in during my 15 minute break...

I had to abandon a Zodiark trial a few days ago because we wiped a few times and my dad had finished making dinner...!

Just unequip some gear before you queue so your ilvl isn't high enough to get it, then re-equip once you're in the trial.

Finished it last night - still processing and don't know if I'm going to end up doing a big text dump like others have done but I'm totally floored by this expansion. I still think ShB is a *bit* more consistent overall and has the highest high in the series in the final trial and it's build up, but EW has like, all the rest of the highest highs and there are a lot of them!

Also quite frankly wasn't at all expecting a Final Fantasy game to go deep on a nihilism/existentialism dichotomy as its core theme and actually do a shockingly good job of it, like what

I'm going to have to stop you right here and direct your attention to Final Fantasies 6 and 9 (nice)

edit: actually come to think of it, nihilism is the primary villain's motivation in 3 (kind of a big deal for Endwalker) and 5 as well, 13 also revolves around the party going through an existential crisis except that story has no fucking clue what to do with it. But it's a thing!

g'raha's emphasis on the characters as friends is probably what made me well up the most. agree with chris that he's my favourite.

also will agree that the singular moment that broke me most in Endwalker was Urianger's meeting with Moenbryda's parents. I welled up multiple times over but that scene broke the floodgates

Yeah the reason that the three best scions are Alisae, G'raha Tia, and Alphinaud (in that order) are that they are the ones that really sell the Scions as being your friends and not just coworkers. G'raha has less development than the other two but he's also an in-universe FF14 fanboy which is a fun dynamic and of course fans are going to eat that up.

Also his cheerful optimism and self-sacrificing tendencies are legitimately endearing and this is true even before ShB. I played the Crystal Tower during 3.x and went from actively disliking the OC catboy with special eyes to being legitimately moved by him in the ending which is damn good.

If I had one very small issue with Endwalker, it's that Yshtola and Thancred get a little shafted.

I know that's because they were the big focus of Shadowbringers, so it's the right choice to make, but in a vacuum they mostly feel like they're just there.

Yshtola felt like a big focus in Shadowbringers to you? Weird! I thought she was by far the least developed of the main cast. She even gets a little upstaged by Emet in her own area story.

Y'shtola's pretty easily the most boring of the current main scions at this point imo

For as beloved as she is, Y'shtola has a shockingly low amount of actual character development. You put her character arc next to Thancred and Urianger and it's not even a contest how under developed she is.

Y'shtola is really good but yeah she really needs an arc of her own.

I think pretty much everyone was expecting her 'I'm dying from my eyes' plot to come up in Endwalker at some point and then it kind of just didn't.

That the kind of thing you save for 6.3!

I have to wonder if Y'shtola's stagnant character is tied to her being already popular and the defacto series rep.

It's not a bad character. She's the one that gets to be effortlessly cool and smart. But despite her high screentime outside of 4.0 shafting her, she stays the same and mostly is around to advance the plot when needed. It's very safe and maybe the writers just don't want to fuck her up.
