Is that the alliance raid or the 8-mans?

8-mans. The A-raids won't be out until 6.1.

Speaking of the Alliance Raid, Halone and Rhalgr seem pretty obvious as the final fight for two of the three raids, but who do we think the third will be?

Pandemonium, the 8 man raid series. Think Alexander / Omega / Eden from past expansions.

Is it a crossover with another game too? A few of them have Pandemoniums.

I suspect there will be some FF2 and FF9 influence in the raids.

If we're going with "gods associated super hard with a focus xpac region," then Thaliak would be the other one because of Sharlayan.

Yoshi has said both the 8 and 24 man raid series will be FF14 original stories with original bosses.

What're people's thoughts on the EW Role Quests? I did the Magic DPS one. It was solid, though not amazing. It didn't have anything to do with me being magic DPS tho, so I dunno if there's a particularly good reason for it to bea role quest.

I did the same one. I agree, did enjoy it but it's definitely less a role quest and more tying up lose ends for character epilogues. When I mentioned Ishikawa tying up loose ends this is definitely what made me feel that the most. I mean a resolution for Thordan's sword is one thing, but for his fucking airship??

Seems they just assigned the jobs to the quests at random, but that doesn't bother me. I actually do prefer this to something job related.

Yeah, the Role Quests are more character epilogues/closures. They try to show the global affect of the Final Days, but eh. Healer Role Quest was basically giving Fordola closure.

The only thing I'm annoyed with for Role Quests is that they really should have had some voiced scenes.

I'd be shocked if Ishikawa worked on the Role Quests! She didn't work on any of the Shadowbringers ones. It seems like the only ShB side content she did was the Dark Knight L80 job quest, so I'd assume she didn't do any side content for EW (considering it's a bigger game).

Tank role quest was alright. Gridania and the Elementals suck so much tho

I would imagine she at least gave them an outline, but maybe not.

Has the jury determined the most efficient way to level a second job from 80 to 90 yet? And if the answer is daily roulettes, what's fastest after those are done?

Fates are good too though. Any zone. Just join any party labeled Fate, they're all the same. And this gets you lot of gems you can spend on mats to sell on the marketboard too.

Beat Zodiark EX today. Pretty fun, though hilariously simple. As long as one person knows where to go, you can slap a triangle marker on them and play follow the leader to win.

I finished today. Let me stream-of-consciousness memories from start of expansion, while I wait in queue again (I had to stop and go eat something, and bathe, and maybe have a bit of a music appreciation cry.) Bear in mind a few things for me:
1.) I mostly only skimmed pre-patch content, except for the job action trailer.
2.) I am a sucker for mood-setting aesthetics which docks Labyrinthos some huge points.
3.) I was rather sleep-deprived for most of this since the only times I could queue quickly were if I awoke in the middle of the night for unrelated reasons.
4.) I've mostly run it as a Bard so far.

Picked Thavnair first. Fantasy India is very much my aesthetic, though the music isn't impressing me.
Is this the general battle theme? Ehhhn... at least it's not Shadowbringers.

I will never forget ARR-era Mor Dhona. Level 50 was enough to still aggro those things and they'd not only set you back with the tongue pull, this was when 'if an enemy hits you while you're mounted you get Heavy applied' was still a thing. So annoying x.x

I haven't done the extreme trials yet but often times guides make things look more confusing than they actually are. Especially the early trials/savages.

Just go in and try one.

All right I'm too lazy to do a full write-up, I guess.

High points: Garlemald (especially at Dinnertime,) basically every story dungeon especially Hyperborea, Thavnair parts 1 and 2/Vanaspati, Ktisis Hyperborea, Ultima Thule, pre-trial leadup and trial of Mare Lamentorum, ranged DPS role quest.

Meh points: Elpis (gameplay-wise, at least - the character interaction belongs up in high, as does the dungeon), Tower of Babel, Labyrinthos part 1, Mare Lamentorum part 2 (even if the Loporrits are adorable.)

End(me)walker points: Labyrinthos part 2, the very, very slow boil/flow break of doing Thavnair before Labyrinthos, and a bit of ending fatigue back in the Rising Stones.

i'm trying to amp up a few of my friends to attempt the trial myself. zodiark ex is kind of unique in that there's no mechanic to force your party to ever split up- in fact, you always want to be stacked

that means you can mark the one person who is confident and just go wherever they go. the fight is exceedingly simple when you look at it that way

i've participated in high-level raiding in a few games, and ffxiv's definitely feels a little bit different. it's hard to eloquently describe how, but i can't say it's better or worse. it just comes with different pros and cons

i will say that i think FFXIV raiding requires less fear of failure. it's all about failing over and over to crazy mechanics until you have them memorized

this is in contrast to something like WoW, where fight mechanics are clearer and require less memorization, but you need to be tighter with your core role responsibilities (damage, healing, tanking rotations) while navigating those unique situations

So the Labyrinthos music is just so Soken can meme next fanfest. I am sure.

These new EX trials are verh easy. The first one you really only need to follow one person that can figure out the safe spot. The only thing PF seems to have trouble is the star shower mechanic. Everything else is very forgiving even if you get clipped once.
