Packs a lot in its sparse runtime. I want to say it's the first game I really noticed doing environmental storytelling at this level, which is to say almost exclusively in lieu of cutscenes or other traditional methods. At times it can even be quite unsettling, and of course GLaDOS is one of the best villains in gaming history. --- I've decided to put my fears behind me. I'm not going back. I dunno about the story, per se, which is just "escape from this mad AI that is experimenting on you and ultimately wants to kill you," but if we use that as shorthand for the general set-up and exposition, then it's great. Especially the line-level writing.
