It's really telling about the state of wages in America when the $1000 stimulus checks every 6 months is more money than working a job.

Employers are dealing with being shut down, supply chain shortages, increased cost of goods, workforce shortages and lazy employees. But yea, pay is the problem. FYI, it's not. It's terrible implementations by the government.

It's because they don't have to leave their house and can collect welfare paid for by those going to work. You do know that unemployment checks became almost infinite during covid, right?

I'm not. But people are either not even showing up or think they can just stand there. Why work at all when the government will give you just enough to bum around while those that know an economy needs actual workers and not moochers to function?

Pay is not the issue dude. It's laziness and ignorance.

Essential workers (the ones who get paid the least) are not gonna be able to collect unemployment because they never had to leave their jobs/never got fired because they were needed. If you leave your job you can't collect unemployment.

Plus the checks were what, 1200 + 600 + 1400 = 3200 for 1 person. 21 months of Pandemic since March 2020, that averages 152~ish a month...that's nothing...if you have dependents sure it's higher but then again...people cost money to feed and have other needs occasionally.

That's the future.

Also, he erroneously believes they make more staying home. They don't, they make just enough to not be homeless and not starving but they aren't getting ahead or contributing to society. The more they drain, the more they'll be forced to things like ration cards since there aren't enough goods because they didn't work.

I'm not surprised. Employee's in America get treated like garbage constantly. Management frequently belittles them and acts abusively towards them, customers mock and belittle them while hiding behind 'the customer is always right', and things like long work hours, miserable conditions, and soul-sucking office cubicles are so 'normal' we are surprised when a job DOESN'T do that. All for pay that never seems to be enough and you're saddled with massive amounts of bills, debt, and struggle to afford a car and rent (nevermind owning a house) while the upper management (who frequently just make life more difficult) seem to make off like bandits.

No wonder no one wants to work anymore. If you're gonna drown in debt and be unable to live a decent life may as well relax and get what little joy you can instead of working miserably only to stave it off a bit.

If I made triple what income assistance paid, I would definitely work. If I made only double what it paid, I would just take the loss if it was feasible to do and ride it out. Not going to bust my bag for only double what I can get for doing nothing.

That's nice, but they should still step up their game. If a business can't pay its employees enough to live comfortably, why should that business get to exist? The entitlement of business owners who want to get away with paying a sub-living wage or doing nothing to make working their more pleasant for their employees is disgusting. Stop expecting people to be thankful for whatever garbage you offer them and start genuinely competing.

The whole "businesses aren't paying people a livable wage so it's ok if they mooch" is a complete fallacy. Businesses do pay livable wages to employees that earn it. But now that governments were paying people to stay home, they've lost the motivation to work for their living.

Society is in for a rude awakening once the workforce gets fed up subsidizing those unwilling to work for a living.

Stop expecting handouts. You must participate in society to be a part of it. Living off of other people, like a leech or a virus, are cancers that destroy society.
