And to be brutally honest, in the current extremely overlitigious/social media lynch mob driven society, if someone is going around trying to push their own narrative and shouting about how they want people "held accountable", I'd probably lawyer up too. One of my mother's teenage patients got deliberately speared during a hockey game, resulting in a grade 3-4 ruptured spleen (I don't remember exactly which). Not only did the culprit not immediately end up in court, his coach and the provincial hockey association actively resisted taking any sort of disciplinary action against him, on the basis of "that's just how hockey goes, don't be a wimp." I'm not sure how it ultimately resolved, but it very much was not a matter of the male culprit being thrown immediately under the bus by a justice system that hates males. Toxic masculinity is extremely common in sports, to the point of outright dictating disciplinary policies and resulting in anyone that seeks justice for being unambiguously assaulted being mocked for their fragility and weakness. I don't know where you're getting the idea that a boy would have been arrested immediately, but that idea has very little correlation with reality.
