Lightning Strikes 10/07/21 7:25:20 AM #16:	Yeah I disagree with celebrating peoples death as a rule, but it should also be noted just how bad his beliefs and actions were - he not only denied Japanese war crimes and was in general an ultranationalistic bigot, he took out ads in the Washington Post denying the use of sex slaves by Japan during World War 2. He wasnt just generally homophobic, he said he was happy about high LGBT child suicide rates. He wasnt just a racist he would platform other racists. He was probably more influential in this way than the vast majority of actual far right politicians. To top it all off he was seriously damaging Dragon Quest by keeping high quality versions of his music restricted do he could make more money off of it. The music situation is wierd because, yeah, he didn't do it for financial gain or rights, he did it because he was a racist and only true Nipponese deserve to hear his music in all it's glory. I get the gut reaction of it not mattering compared to his entire...you know...awful existence, but it was intrensically connected. LEGALLY, there was not much to be done. Yeah you're right, I think I mostly just bristled at the idea he was uniquely responsible for hurting the DQ series when it's also on Square for continuing to associate with him. Because the legal solution was always to throw him and his music in the trash and get a new composer, but that's not what the fans want.
