What's more important to you, when the time comes to purchase a game?

Those are not great options. Obviously gameplay is first and foremost for most people, but I don't play multiplayer at all, so I wouldn't know how to vote.

Price is a factor too, but that really only decides when I buy a game that I'm already interested in. I rarely buy anything at release or at full MSRP unless it's something I'm really looking forward to.

My first inclination is to say gameplay, but I recognize that the visuals and music in trailers and other promotional materials do a lot to subconsciously influence my decisions. I'm still not going to buy something whose fundamental gameplay concept I don't like, but dressing up something in which I'm already interested with appealing art and music is going to help convince me to take the plunge (and, conversely, unappealing visuals/music will discourage it).

Narrative for me. A game with fantastic story and characterization does far more for me than whatever the gameplay alone might be. It's why I tend to gravitate towards CRPG-type games with player dialogue choices. Or point-and-click adventure type games with strong narrative. Even stuff like visual novels or the Telltale games.

I'd happily play a game with a great story and mediocre mechanics over a game with the best gameplay mechanics ever but a nothing story. As long as the gameplay isn't so terrible that it makes it feel like too much of a slog regardless of story, I'm generally fine with it. But most games that are pure mechanics and no story tend to bore me within an hour or so.

About the only pure mechanics game I can think of keeping my interest over the last few decades is Minecraft.

It depends on the game.
Ff14 -I only like the combat and jobs, everything else is boring or tedious.
Minecraft/No Mans sky(exploration/ crafting games) usually depends on the crafting system.
Adventure games- the story needs to be fun, the combat usually gets repetitive to me.
FPS- how fun the gameplay and mutiplayer is
RPG- the world or atompshere needs to be engaging for me to sit there for hours to play.

Gameplay mostly. A trailer will grab my attention but seeing gameplay will tell me when or if I'll buy it.

It is a complex issue for me that can't just be broken down into one thing. Certain franchises (Metroid, Zelda, and Yakuza currently) are pretty much instant buys from me. Others I wait for reviews to hear how they are before buying. Others still I wait for sales, and that even gets broken down by how much I am willing to pay for a game. Could be $20, could be $40, I could even wait until it is $5 or less. Some games I just acquire because they came in a bundle with something else I wanted. Even the types of games depend greatly on my mood because in reality I will play anything at least once so long as it is available and looks fun. I might not like MMORPGs, but if someone wanted to play one with me and the price wasn't outrageous, I would (and have) obliged.

I guess to sum it all up, it comes down to "whatever I feel like".

I think you would just go for gameplay. I think multiplayer and single are for people that dont care as much about gameplay as they care about it being single or multiplayer I think
