Its done. And to be honest it probably should be. So many series just go on and on forever, and dont have a correct stopping point. Ultimate cant be topped, and then to try it will just be a shell of what Ultimate was. This is the apex, this is the correct stopping point.

They can't just stop one of their biggest cash cows. They'll probably pull a street fighter 5 style reboot after this

So, going into today I thought there were 2 cancer characters really possible. Cinderace and anything to do with Dark Souls. So let me just tell you the fire of either the stupid embers or a dumb soccer ball in flames didnt feel me with great joy. On a positive note, Im such a big KH fan that I knew it was Sora the second he stepped off the Amiibo platform because that is both a KH sound, as well as video effect when it disappeared, so I only had about 3 seconds of hating life. That reminded me though, I also knew Cloud was Cloud at the first notes of Bomber mission before most other did as well.

so my question to mega fans of other franchises that made it into KH, were there any moments in the previous trailers that life long fans of a series would recognize before others so you knew in advance by 30 seconds to a minute before the rest of the world.

I'm a lefty and I had the Circle Pad Pro to help... couldn't really use the stand that comes with the game while also on a CPP though.

Honestly it's hard to imagine KI:U working without the control scheme it had though. It was really unique and fast-paced, took time learning it but in the end I think the controls really enabled the game to be as fun as it was.

For that reason I don't really want a KI:U port, but I would look forward to an entirely new game that takes full advantage being built for traditional controllers.

I bought both Smash 64 and KH day 1. Melee is maybe the most played game I ever owned (also day 1, abs bought a GCN just for it). KH is definitely my #2, and Smash is at worst #5, but realistically #4. I am so unconscionably hyped about today. If this was the end, RIP old friend. Your work is done.

I think the best thing about Sora being announced, and that this is the end of Smash Ultimate... is that Waluigi didn't get in.

They announced amiibos for every other DLC but him and there are no more Smash presentations/announcements. Feels like they would have announced it with the others if it was ever coming. Which makes sense, given Disney.

As I said earlier, I knew when Mario stepped off the platform. That said I STILL cried when Hikari orchestral started. I agree completely it is just a song that HITS

There's (extremely lucrative) precedent for this now with MK8, and Nintendo won't just close the spigot on one of its most profitable franchises. The licensing is the only thing that could stop that imo, though admittedly, I don't know how massive a hurdle that actually is.

It is the DDD opening yes.

But its actually the first thing you hear in the series. After all the Licensing agreement stuff at the start of the first KH, that is the song that plays before the menu screen while its showing you parts of the game.

Its also played at the iconic end of KHII when the Door to Light appears to save Riku and Sora.

With 18 third party characters, licensing will be a major issue. Especially since it wouldn't be as easy as giving them a large part of the DLC profits. Cloud almost didn't happen for Ultimate and now Nintendo would have to negotiate to get three characters from Square.

Yeah i remember that as well. If that truly is the case then they may as well just quit now. I mean why would you wanna buy a new Smash game when they've gutted most of the cast?

I can see them doing this. Smash 6 is a much smaller roster with the original 12 plus a handful of newcomers from each subsequent entry. A group that actually encompasses the original tagline of "Nintendo's All-Stars" with a few third-parties that have very strong ties to Nintendo. Something like:

Rool, Palutena, Robin, etc) get added as super cheap DLC, while another 5 or so brand new characters get added as full-priced DLC, and at the end of the day the roster ends up being like 55-60ish characters.
