There was a mini war yesterdar that was fun and completely player driven. Some other faction wanted to take over my faction territory and they organized like 30+ players to do pvp quests for that. My faction (the lowest player one) organized quickly and everyone went to defend the city to kick those guys out.

A crazy battle ensured to prevent them from doing pvp quests while like 50 of us also did pvp quests at once to recover influence. It was heck as fun.

Thats awesome! I almost hit 25 last night, pretty sure i found my first "dungeon" as well, it was called an expedition. I havent tried it yet, but probably will in the next day or two when i get the time

Sounds like Face of Mankind

There were like 7 factions including mercs, police, mafia, corps, army etc and it was 99% pvp fighting for territory/resources (except for police that literally policed the 'non pvp' zones, and mafia which did a lot of drug selling)

It was amazing, had an entirely player run economy, faction hierarchy (you didnt level up, you got promoted by someone higher ranked)

Then the free Open Beta ended and the devs ruined it

Lol I loved Face of Mankind even though I sucked ass at it and literally the only thing I did was firearm training as part of the military faction.

This game is a lot different than that though, it's more straightforward, all the territories you capture are on one big overworld map.

It is cool that factions take over territories through player-created and managed companies though.

got 100 mining and leveled to 31 last night. I ended my run by collecting quests and now i know which route i'm going to take running around today and hopefully i can hit 35 and 100 engineering and smelting so i can make some starmetal tools.

Never played WoW,

Combat is more "actiony"/faster paced than SWTOR though it's still not entirely solid, and the builds are way more limited (you can only have three abilities slotted at a time and realistically most weapons only have like... 5-7 abilities to choose from). Positional damage and dodging are a thing. If you suck at third person shooters you're going to hate bows and guns and magic >_>

Bigger emphasis on crafting and gathering and PVP and working in a Company within your Faction to take over and control territory. Questing isn't bad but I've found myself just clicking through the quest prompts to accept and complete them lately (except for the main quest).

Character creation is abysmal, you've got one human race as your selection and everything is choosing from presets, there are no modification sliders for anything.

Haven't seen a lot of the group PVE content since it starts in the "midgame" around level 23/24 and I'm a bitch and am too afraid to try it.

Oh the story is nowhere near as tight as SW TOR, either, though that was kind of a unique one in how well written it was.

I would say it almost reminds me of Sea of Thieves, with no ships and many more skills to level and crafting. It's kind of simple and straightforward now but I am hoping they take the time to really develop and flesh it out, because it's a good foundation. I've seen other games start out in worse spots than this and make decent come backs.

I love how serious this shit is. Green has taken over more territories, Covenant got an extra one... meanwhile in my faction chat everyone is pointing fingers saying they've been donating money to various companies that are just sitting on it, or even possibly funnelling it through alts to other factions. And then people are like "I have oversight of my affairs with this Company and I know the money is being properly spent" lmao.

Also was having this dumb UI glitch where half the menu just said "Uninitialized" so I restarted the game and that got fixed except now every time I stop moving and then start moving my character just slides for a few seconds before actually running...

damn, he is double my level already lmao. Agree with him mostly. Game has huge potential. Its nothing we havent seen before, but most of the other games similar to it were all plagued by p2w monetization

but I also hate when people rush to endgame in a release that hasn't even been out for a week and then complain about the lack of endgame content...

Tbh their loss, I wonder how many hours they've played so far.

Im still having a blast at level 28 and feels like there are tons of stuff to do. I recently went from doing the main quest, to clearing the first dungeon (took about 50min), doing some town quests and faction quests, then partying with friends for pvp quests (highly recommended! or with randoms as long as you voice chat).

I still want to do some side questing, leveling up my trades a bit more and farm some corruption portals for better gear. Later today my company organized a zerg to try to take a new territory that will be fun to participate in. I believe there is also other pvp content locked to higher level like invasions or something called outpost rush, but I imagine they are no fun if you are the only level 60 in your server.

Just have fun and take your time.

I cant really think on any tips except that if you are playing with friends, there is a way to make sure everyone has the initial main story line even if you spawn on different beginning areas so you can look that up.

I havent bought one, way too expensive. A trick for the storage, use the trading post as additonal storage and set a ridiculous price so no one buys the items. Thats what I do. Although you would lose the convenience of knowing which mats you have available for crafting.

Its not as bad as the grindiest mmos, but Its pretty grindy. However I find the grind to be more enjoyable than most mmos.

There is grinding but the reason it is better is because you can choose what to grind. I usually mix and match so it doesnt feel repetitive

1. You can do quests to level up (seems you would dislike them based on your comment). There are main quests, side stories or town projects
2. You can farm materials and level up your trades (like engineering, smelting, outfitting, fishing) which are also a good alternative method of leveling up
3. You can grind pvp and do pvp quests or get XP for killing other players
4. You can farm monsters as any other mmo
5. You can farm corruption portals (mini events with a lot of monsters)

They are pretty basic: go to this place and kill monsters or go this place and look for chests. Gather some mats to craft some item you need etc.. not a lot of variety quest-wise tbh.

Yeah, a lot of people review bombed it for the queue times on day 1. Since then its rebounded and gone back up to 67% as of today from a low that i saw of 46%.

Nice! What level are you? Couple of tips:

1. Dont forget to get the quest from Barkimedes to get him some bones for food. It gives nice XP. You can pet him as well lol. It is outside the dungeon entrance.
2. There are 5 chests total I believe you can collect.
3. Dont forget to look for an item in the final boss room after you defeat him as that is required by your main story quest. (Only needed if it is your first time).

I dont know if you want tips for how to actually beat the dungeon or if you just want to wing it.

Easy to spot the haters, as someone who chose a medium population server to avoid crowds I can totally notice the player based greatly increased. We are now have a high pop server and during peak times there is still about 500 in the queue. I usually try to log in before peak to avoid the queue lol

Not a hater, just doesn't look like a great game is all. I actually was hyped about this game, I'm just glad I didn't buy it on release like I usually do. Looks kinda bland, looks like it feels really wonky, and looks like it'll get boring really quick.

I'm expecting this game to die off in a couple of months. Looking at the reviews, they seem to reinforce my sentiments, as well.

It could really go either way. I think it has had a smoother launch than many MMOs and it isn't too glitchy outside of getting stuck once in a while or compass markers disappearing temporarily.

A lot is going to depend on what the post release support is like. It has as much content if not more than ESO, Sea of Thieves and No Man's Sky - if they can endure then so can this, it's just gonna take some steady releases of new skills/skill mechanics, expanded PVP and more group PVE content. I think the framework is all there though

Ive got 45 hours into it so far which is already worth the asking price imo. If BDO can survive this long while being infested with p2w, then Im pretty sure New World is gonna be alright.

Same. I got about 46 hours already and expect to keep playing it more so that's already less than $1 per hour. Since this has no monthly subscription I consider it worth it even if it were to die today. Im only level 31 so Im far from done and been having a blast so far.

Anyone playing on low video settings? I only have a GTX 770 so that's probably what I'll have to do

There is a trick that allegedly makes it run very smooth with relatively good graphics. I used it and seems good so far. I saw it on reddit but cant find it anymore.

Pretty much:
* Limit your FPS to 60
* On the video settings, there is a master control that says high/medium/low. Seems that controls how much power the game uses so the hack is to screenshot how the other setting were before and change this setting to low. The rest of the settings will be changed along with some hidden ones. Now revert all settings to what they were before except for the one that you manually changed. That supposedly makes it to be less heavy on your PC and still maintains pretty much the standard quality.

If you are interested i can try to find the name of that setting

We got stomped in a war. Fucking Marauders had to hire level 60 Covenant mercenaries, and their whole war group was 50+ I was like level 46 at the time, 48 right now. It's making me want to respec.

Hit 60 today, it was nice. Main complaints:

1. I wish fucking EVERYTHING didn't require basic mats. "Oh cool I can make starmetal tools, oh it's like 50 iron per starmetal bar and I need 50 bars for a full set of tools". It's not necessarily hard to get that much iron, but it is a bit annoying and just make prices very bottom heavy (iron ore is like .80g each on my server, starmetal ore is .15g). This is kind of helped later on with reagents since you can basically guarantee steel bars x2, except...
2. I wish it was easier to target farm reagents rather than just making money and buying them. I'm working on furnishing now and the amount of sandpaper (and to a lesser extent flux) I'm using is frankly disgusting.
