So far so good. Played for a considerable while and am around level 13. There are tons of stuff to do (at least for now). I liked that the combat is not point and click nor has auto aim which makes battles more entertaining than Im used to. There is a lot of gathering and crafting so if you don't like that Id reconsider.

Today Ill see if i can go questing with others and try a non solo experience. As others said, for a $40 one time purchase it seems that it will be worth it even if next month it dies.

My problem with the gathering and the crafting is that it's just not exciting, there's no variety. It's holding E for everything, and crafting is just selecting the quantity you need and clicking a number.

I prefer stuff like FFXIV, where you have abilities that help boost the quality of the gathering and crafting processes, and Runescape where you have a *little* more to manage if you want (like mining - you're encouraged to rotate between rocks; smithing - you have to keep an eye on the heat of the item you're making and periodically re-heat it; archeology - you collect materials and artifacts like mining but then have to restore them and there are puzzles and shit to solve with the stuff you find).

I like that the combat is real time and requires actual targeting instead of just auto-locking on, but there's also not a lot of variety in skills for each weapon.

Doing something like runescape for crafting would be great. I havent tried it but fishing seems to be a bit more involved than pressing E.

I didn't get too into it, but Project Gorgon had some more interesting stuff, too. Dying was a skill - you got more experience by dying in new/unique ways, and a higher death level would boost other skills.

You could also mutate into like half a dozen things from bats to werewolves.

And there was a Vocabulary skill that you built by playing a timed word search game, and then the more words you knew the better you could bard it out.

Yeah 2000 is really low. But just because they have a lot of server capacity doesnt mean their servers are run well for an MMO

US East -> when I was playing last night, I saw the high population servers had queues in the hundreds and the low and medium population ones were like.. 0 or single digits.

Will check now.

Low and Medium population servers have almost no queue. High population servers range from 50 up to like 1500 :\ And it very much looks like people chose servers based on things like whether their favorite streamer was playing there, or what it's named. Some of the funkier foreign named servers are all Low.

I joined a medium population server per my friend, but turns out when I joined it was a high population server now. Queue wasnt bad, only time I had to wait it had 1 person in queue.

Though I did just discover a farm that had been corrupted by something or other and there were evil farmers attacking me so that was kinda cool.

I find it interesting that despite the fact people are grinding this shit out tirelessly, over half the map remains unclaimed and there is no clear faction in control. it was kind of funny when the Covenant finally got a territory though, people were like " oh shit yellow's alive!"

chat system is kinda dumb, doesn't seem to be a way to customize which channels you're in. Either *everything* or only Global/Area/Faction.

Still not 100% sold on it.

Had a quest where I had to kill and skin three sheep in a very specific area, except they only put one sheep spawn in that area and so the quest took like 5 minutes to complete instead of 30 seconds. And apparently this was an issue in the beta (went on YT to see what was up).

It's also clearly designed with PVP in mind, I imagine once the map gets taken over it's just going to be 90% battles between players to control more territory. I still don't fully understand it though, even if your faction doesn't own a territory you can still hang out there and use the services in the town, it just costs you a little more... but sometimes that's your only option because the towns are updated and maintained independently of each other.

And the combat... is really tripping me up still with its simplicity. And for some reason all the attributes you can level up have *some* overlap *except* for the healing staff which has its own governing attribute and zero overlap.

It really feels like they were trying to emulate ESO's system with individual weapons gaining experience and stuff, but then cut out all the abilities to give you serious gameplay diversity :|

I am surprised how much am liking this game. I think its definitely going to be successful It reminds me of Black Desert a bit except without pay to win items for real money

Just wait until the honey moon phases out, it's not that great once you start seeing the problem in this game.

Ive been playing solo this whole time, and Im loving it. PVP is completely optional, so if you dont want to get ganked you can do your own thing

I've been doing solo, only time it's been a possible pain in the ass is certain boss characters in quests but I've also never been the only one hunting them down.

yeah, you only need two light attacks to get credit for a kill, so as long as the game is still super populated, it should be easy to solo most of the content. I havent tried any dungeons yet though.

Yeah there is a very clear endgame emphasis on PVP, so far it only seems like there are one or two dungeons in the game but there are like several different PVP modes and they want you to work in your faction to take over the map >_>.

But I've just been running around questing and killing and gathering and stuff, surprisingly been kind of satisfying and relaxing.

Trying out all the different weapons too.

Keep getting side tracked with side quests, realizing I should be focusing on the main quest -_- People keep calling out for help at our forts but I can't do shit because I'm only 21 lol

I have heard eventually the main quest will require you to level up to continue it if you arent high enough level already. So doing the side quests is probably a good thing

Probably yeah, I've seen some people complain in the chat now about hitting a wall. They apparently didn't realize there were side quests? idk lmao

@ssj3vegeta2 also realizing that some weapons kinda suck for solo, like bows and guns.

also wtf I just checked and it was 1:15 and then I fast traveled and turned a quest in and some other stuff and now it's 2:20 lol, thought it was the end of DST

There was a mini war yesterdar that was fun and completely player driven. Some other faction wanted to take over my faction territory and they organized like 30+ players to do pvp quests for that. My faction (the lowest player one) organized quickly and everyone went to defend the city to kick those guys out.

A crazy battle ensured to prevent them from doing pvp quests while like 50 of us also did pvp quests at once to recover influence. It was heck as fun.
