The MCU is quiet the mess right now what with Loki messing up timelines, Spider-Man about to dabble in multiverseness, Julia Louis-dreyfus rounding up former good guys and the remaining Avengers about to be replaced with women

Am I going to stick around and follow the stories for another 10 years? Probably not. I have no plans on seeing Shang-Chi so I'm not off to a good start

While I havent been keeping up with Marvel, by not watching most of the movies (including Civil War, Infinity War, & Endgame, I did watch Shang-Chi a couple days ago. It was pretty good

Sounds like a good place to be, TBH. A lot of stories to tell there

Saying that like it's a bad thing when it simply accurately reflects what a stupid pandering mess comic books are in the first place sounds extremely childish. To be even remotely interesting going forward the MCU has to dig a bit deeper than "We're going to make yet another Fantastic Four movie...but this time by Marvel!" or "Spider-Man again! But with three villains instead of twooooo" or "Another X-men reboot!" and while multiverses are inherently cheap excuses to rewrite established stuff they at least give the opportunity to tell different stories.

No. It's childish to care what someone else thinks of comic book movies. I'm sick of the MCU too and I'm fine with that. I noticed years ago that I enjoyed a lot of indie movies more than MCU films. The MCU became way too much of always hyping the next thing and I only sometimes found the next thing worth the wait.

If the MCU still makes you happy then no reason for you to stop liking it.

The problem is, there was a time when comics told interesting stories. Sadly, that time was decades ago. Which is why so many comic movies keep stealing their story ideas from storylines from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Because post-90s almost everything is shit.

Watching the films go from being interesting and fun to starting to adopt more and more of the bullshit that killed people's interest in comic books in the first place is just watching the same slow death over again for a second time. Younger people today sort of have the impression that the comic film bubble is never going to burst, but enough burnout and shitty films can kill pretty much any genre eventually.

The comic book industry used to be able to sell millions of copies of a given issue, now they're lucky if they can sell 100k for the most popular titles (and closer to 20k for most of the rest). It's not impossible that we're going to see a similar slow decline in comic films until they stop making enough money to justify the studios making them. Just like any number of other film genres that used to be crazy popular but that don't draw a damned dime these days.

My bad, if you're still interested in the MCU, by all means, go out and watch 'em, I'm sure there are a few surprises planned coming up.. it's just not my cup of tea right now

I'm not sure how three different people had this takeaway from my post. I didn't think I sounded at all positive about comic books or excited for what Marvel Studios is doing but apparently there was a way to read my post that conveyed the opposite meaning of every word in it.
