How so?
In this interview, for example, she's full on defending Biden with progressive buzzwords:
https://democraticleft.dsausa.org/issues/spring-2021/talking-socialism-catching-up-with-aoc/
Saying that the critique of Biden that nothing will change is a "privileged critique" and asking stuff like "what is the message that you are sending to your Black and brown and undocumented members of your community, to your friends, when you say nothing has changed?", when in fact Biden is still deporting people, he reopened "child detention centers" popularly referred to as cages when Trump was in power, and he's siding with law enforcement over BLM protesters, calling for increased police budgets. Heck, AOC herself went to a detention center and cried on camera, and now she's saying that critique of Biden is "privileged". Do we need to move on and examine what he's doing to address the fossil fuel industry? Workers' rights in, say, Amazon, or various gig companies? He's out there saying that America "needs Republicans", because he wants to maintain the status quo, but if you criticize him for it, "democratic socialist" AOC thinks you're being privileged. What privilege?

And let's not forget, Biden was the one who promised rich donors that nothing would change. It's his own words.

Right. To speak a message that it's impossible to work with him is cynical, defeatist, and yes, privileged when she knows right know he's the best she's going to get. Furthermore, she's the one in the best position to work with the administration to utilize it to further her goals, so to be leading the charge against Biden is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It's letting "perfect" be the enemy of "good".

You picked and pulled from that paragraph but the point was she's still seeking to get done what she wants to get done and doesn't want to spend time on bad faith critique.

And she's been critical of the Biden administration from moment one to now:

https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/31/economy/jerome-powell-fed-aoc/index.html

Sure, she could be doing stuff right now to combat deportation and detainment, but equating her ideals that haven't shaken to the acts of someone like Pelosi is bad-faith critique.

I'm not equating her ideals to the acts of someone like Pelosi. I'm saying that this Met Gala dress stunt makes her look like Pelosi kneeling in a photo op. Because she's happily rubbing elbows with, and legitimizing, the elite. She defends her actions by blaming it on some sort of official responsibility, but no one forced her to accept the invitation. Even more, no one forced her to wear a designer dress. If she really has to be there in an official capacity, nothing is stopping her from not playing along with the elite and actually just.. go there in an official capacity.

Her dress slogan stunt is like Pelosi's kneeling stunt because it's a hollow performance to liberals who are already on her side. She's not convincing anyone, and she's not pressuring anyone. The elite are happy to have her there!

I'll be happy to praise AOC when she does good things, but she's not exempt from criticism. This whole thing looks bad, and I can very well understand why people are annoyed by it.

Yeah I picked and pulled from that paragraph, because what she's dismissing legitimate critique of Biden as bad-faith, when again, he himself is the one who promised donors nothing would fundamentally change. And he's shown that by sticking with law enforcement, by reopening child detention centers, etc. It's great that AOC calls for the removal of some Fed director, but what happened to the causes of, say, abolishing ICE? Defunding the police? You know, big systemic changes that would disrupt the harmful status quo.

She's taking advantage of an opportunity to get a message across.

Seriously, what's separating your perspective on this from someone like 462 who's demanding she relinquish her entire salary?

it's a hollow performance to liberals who are already on her side.
You think the liberal elite is on her side? You think any appreciable number of the rich, regardless of who they vote for, are on her side? I absolutely disagree with that.

Uh. I'm not demanding she relinquish her salary. I'm saying that this is a tacky stunt that rings incredibly hollow when she's fraternizing with the elite in a designer dress. It's like when Natalie Portman or whoever it was claims to spread environmental awareness by wearing the same designer gala dress to two separate occasions. It's empty posturing to an audience who's already on her side.

And there you go. These are not people who are "on her side". They are people who tolerate her existence for their own ends.

There is opposition to be found at an event like this, and there are ambivalents to be found as well. And she's speaking to them in their language of showy displays.

What I'm saying is essentially "the elite want her there to do exactly that", and you're like, "see! there's a purpose with her performance!". Yeah there is, and it's not one that furthers her supposed ideals.

Okay but this gets into realms of "I did this", "I knew you'd do that", "I knew you knew I'd do that", "I knew you knew that I knew that you'd do that", etc.

Ultimately this remains on brand for her style, sticks to her ideals, and speaks to those in money at a major show-off event for them. Claiming that it's playing right into the hands of the elites is making a lot of assumptions about the depth of this.

it's not one that furthers her supposed ideals

No... it doesn't get into those realms at all. The establishment is happy to let her perform, because they know she's not a threat. With her reigned in in the party, they get plausible deniability, she gets nothing except for a personal career.
It's like having Ricky Gervais "call out" the Hollywood people at the Golden Globe awards. He was so popular that they brought him back year after year, and weren't ever afraid of his jokes. Because that's all it was - performing as an adversary while making the industry seem woke by inviting someone who could "speak truth to power". It wasn't until the metoo movement broke that things started changing, and the likes of Weinstein spent millions on smear campaigns and PR rather than invite dissidents to his parties.
If AOC thinks she's doing good promoting her cause with this dress stunt then she's either stupid, or the cause is not actually dismantling the established elite.

She (as a socialist) is diametrically opposed to this elite. Playing their game of gala dress activism does not signal that she's opposed to them, it signals that she will take part in their status quo by proposing toothless, slightly progressive politics that will get ignored while the status quo remains unperturbed. If you think she's some kind of genius for sporting a Warrenite slogan on the back of her designer dress while she rubs elbows with her supposed enemies, then that's fine. You just won't convince me of it.
