Did you vote no or yes on the recall effort against Gavin Newsom?

The recall election in California is coming up and you have until September 14 to send in your ballot. Voting yes will give the state a Republican governor while voting no will have Newsom keep his job. If you care for any family or friends working in a hospital setting, vote no against the recall.

Newsom's gotta go, even a former Democratic state senator is against him

His lockdown didnt work, his tier and color coded systems for reopening didnt work, he's currently kissing voters butts by trying not to impose new sanctions, letting landlords and businesses down, then there was the French Laundry incident, the list goes on..
Now he and the VP are using the attack in Kabul to cancel their campaign plan in the hope of getting sympathetic votes.

The man is a clown. At least you guys in NY got rid of your idiot Governor, even if it wasnt related to the Vid, which it should have been.

Bullseye, start with the corrupt mayors of the Bay area and go from there

A former senator's word is nothing compared to the accolades Newsom is getting from current Democratic senators. Besides, who wants to turn CA into a COVID hellhole like Texas and Florida?

Yeah, because California didnt have a 35,000+ daily infection rate for several weeks during the start of the year. Where were you then?

omg I cant believe one of the most populous states in the world had a high infection rate in the early days of a global pandemic, truly shocking

California's current COVID rates are much lower now compared to Florida and Texas, or have you been living in a bubble this whole time?

California actually managed to beat New Yorks total deaths record early on and with the stupid lockdown in place (and clearly not working)

Welp, whatever the case, I'm just hoping for an honest election. The less I have to hear about fraud from either side the better

It's your vote, if you want to cast one the serves the people in charge rather than the people itself, go for it

California has a lot of fucking recalls. Other states just wait until their god-awful governors come up for re-election, and then re-elect them (if there's no term limit)

I left Cali a couple years ago. Just extract the people I still care about over there, and take a cartoonish-sized chisel to the state already. Move its agriculture to the new co-- Oh, that would be Nevada. Hm. Let me rethink this a bit.

"Early on" doesn't indicate so much about how well a region handled Covid restrictions as it does about how vulnerable that area was to new cases coming in. California's extremely dense and has a lot of international travellers coming in (both commercial and recreational, the former even after closing the borders). It's not remotely surprising that it got hit hard early on, for exactly the same reasons that NY and Washington for hit similarly hard.

What does reflect the effectiveness of countermeasures is how well a region is doing now that the disease has spread pretty uniformly across the country and there's been time for countermeasures to take effect. In that regard, California's doing pretty well. Their density remains a major challenge (as it always will), and their population means their raw numbers are going to be high, but if you look at per capita values (as you should when making comparisons like this), there's no reason to cite their numbers as evidence of mismanaging the situation.

The governor's hardly to blame for people failing to lock down well enough. He could have done more to enforce it, sure, but then you'd be whining about oppression and fascism and all that stuff, so obviously you don't genuinely consider that to be an alternative.
