Still got various restrictions for people coming here, but of course some are horrible people that will cheat just so they can go on a holiday to nice safe NZ. They don't care if it isn't safe because of what they did. >:(

Plus, there is still stuff coming in from other countries. Border works have vaccines though. A lot of regular people don't yet because there was a lot less risk here.

Works a lot better than pretending it doesn't exist. Our method has kept it under control well enough that we can count community outbreaks this year on one hand.

Problem is, even isolated as we are, gotta deal with people at the border. Even if that is boat and plane rather than foot or car.

I dont think it says as much about NZs reaction to it as much as it does about the rest of the worlds reaction to it

Good lord. Obviously, that value's going to vary from region to region, since that's just how R0 values work, but that's absolutely massive.

I mean, it is a win condition as far as local restrictions go, but unless you keep new cases from coming in (and strictly control the ones that do), you're not going to be able to stay that way.

Speaking of which, NSW is getting hammered with 600+ infections, that's easily 6x as many as last time I looked at their numbers :|

10 found so far, including a fully vaccinated nurse in the Auckland hospital, a crew member on an AirNZ plane, and some people who travel around a fair bit, including to a casino and church. Given how long most people down here had to wait to get the vaccine, there aren't many people here with it yet either. -_-
