The later seasons are more separate than the other games he's done in combined days I think.

I still get chills thinking about the first time I played this game. Maybe because the formula was so fresh at the time and the storytelling and dialogue just resonated so much with me. Hands down the best story in the Walking Dead franchise. It's such a shame the sequels decline in quality with each successive entry.

Oh Man this is a good one. First time through, it's probably a ten out of ten. But now, I have a lot of trouble setting it apart from all the Telltale games that came after it. I see the flaws in its storytelling, it's choice-based system. The story it does tell is solid, it's emotionally grounded and quite effective at making you feel like this guardian in a crapsack world, as you struggle to find any shred of joy you can in the midst of disaster & death everywhere. A lot of the game's magic comes from the fact that you feel like your choices matter, even if they ultimately don't. I can't help but notice now how characters you save have little to no dialogue after their events and typically die shortly after anyway. In some weird fucked up way though, this system somehow reinforces the game's themes that much more. Life is uncertain, zombies or not, and the game rendering your choices ultimately meaningless is surprisingly bleak, tragic, & darkly macabre. Was this the intention? Probably not, but it works as intended nonetheless. So I applaud it regardless, as an intense work of horror & dramatic fiction, with solid character archetypes that do the job of forcing your on-the-fly reactions, while still seeing the very real flaws for what they are.

I played this game when I was 17 and I was very moved by it at the time. Like a lot of people, I don't think as highly of it looking back, especially after playing the second season and some other Telltale games, but that initial experience was still worth a lot.

This is a hard one to rank. If I rank it based on how I felt when I first played it, it would be a 10. If I rank it looking back and seeing how well it aged, it's more like a 6 or 7. TWD Season 1 was pretty magical. I remember really reeling over the choices made. That initial partnership of Clementine and Lee is still really great. The problem was that it was too good. Telltales made way too many games after that and it really exposed the flaws in all of their games, including TWD Season 1. I'll give it props for being the first and for doing it well.

Oh this is a great one to rank. I agree with the others, I liked it a lot when I first played it but this is one game that is difficult to remove from everything that followed. It's hard not to feel cheated by the puppet show now that it's so easy to see the strings being pulled.

But it was a good experience when it came out. Not perfect, even then I remember being annoyed at the cheap death of Katjaa and just being constantly irritated by Kenny (I will never understand how that character got a fanbase). And it had that typical problem of episodic games where it felt like it was changing narrative direction and focus every episode, making it less cohesive overall. I'll still give it a 7/10. Probs my second fav episodic walking sim after TWAU (of the ones I have played, I haven't tried Borderlands which people often say is the best one). The 400 days episode isn't really notable one way or the other.

Yeah nah the seasons are pretty distinct games from each other, I don't think it would make sense to combine them.

Really good drama which uses interactivity to great effect. It is also not impacted by the disappointing later seasons.
